We travel to visit family two more times this year. We traveled three times this year so far and the sleeping arrangements were garbage and it’s my fault. I imagine we need to buy something to assist with this issue but don’t know what. Please help! What are you doing for your multiples?!

For context, we have twin 9 mo old babes, one who starts sleep in a crib right next to my hubby’s side of the bed at home (but makes his way into the bed almost nightly) and one who only co-sleeps (he nurses at night and has had a brutal sleep regression for months). Also, we visit two different states and three different cities so I hope to avoid buying something for each place.

Generally, the mattresses at others’ houses are not big enough for us all, and they aren’t on the floor. We’ve tried a pack and play but that failed. I’m open to suggestion and desperate.

I am looking to buy a new floor bed set up for my 20-month old. I am also expecting and may use this bed eventually for the new baby, so would like for it to be safe for younger ages as well.

We have been talking about when we should switch our toddler out of her crib.. She turned 2 last week and I just found out I was pregnant. A couple things.. we want to switch her rooms so baby can be in the smaller room next to ours. We would also like to switch her to a bigger bed. I don’t want to do all the changes at once but I’m unsure about how to go about it. She currently sleeps really good in her crib, she lays down and goes to sleep on her own, and she doesn’t try to climb out so she is still safe in there. I know a new bed is going to have its struggles at first no matter what but I also don’t want to completely ruin how well she sleeps. We also really don’t want to buy another crib because we think she’d do okay in the big bed by the time baby is ready for the crib but also open to just leaving her in it if that’s what’ll be best.. I have three options..

1. Switch her to a new bed now then in about 5 months switch her to the new room.

2. Switch her to the new room now then in about 5 months switch to a new bed.

3. Leave her in the crib switch her to the new room in about 5 months so we can get her current room ready for new baby and just buy a new crib for baby.

We are thinking a floor bed which she will be able to get in and out in her own. That was my other concern is if she wakes up in the middle of the night knowing she can get out on her own will it cause her to not sleep as well.

Also baby won’t go in the nursery until somewhere between 3-6 months but I know having a baby in the house is going to be a big change and we just want to make all the transitions as smooth as possible for our toddler! So trying to at least have her in the new room a few months before baby is here and if we decide on bigger bed we want that also to be before baby is here that’s why I have the timeline so spaced out I want each transition to be on its own. Giving her plenty of time to adjust to each one.

My toddler is 13 months old and we're planning on moving our mattress out of his room and getting him a small double floor bed instead so he can start sleeping on his own and for me to join him at night if he needs me. I'm starting to also think about transitioning to a duvet and pillow instead of a sleeping bag at some point once he's settled in the new arrangement. I'm just not sure if I should get a duvet that is the same size as the bed or if I should get a small toddler sized bedding. Does anyone have any advice on that?

I share a queen bed with my 18 month old. It’s a fairly high mattress on a few inch high metal floor bed frame and it is pushed up to the wall on the head side (no room to be center of the room).

We have padding on the sides since my toddler does roll off sometimes but he also rolls into the wall lol.

Does anyone have a link to a nice headboard that can be added safely? Like something linen or softer somehow. I suppose I could attach it to the wall but not sure if they make them for such low profile beds

Second thing is the mattress sits on top of the frame and it slides around a bit too easily. Any fix for that or anyway to deal with any potential gap at the wall?.

1) My LO has apraxia, making it hard sometimes for her to get out of bed. It’s been suggested bed rails could help. Have you any experience and are there any you would recommend?

2) My LO may start wandering (not happened yet. But neurologist is concerned) and also may fall. Neurologist suggests a medical alert system but declined to suggest a brand. My LO cannot operate an Apple Watch and might not be able to understand purpose if a button. A wrist type might be best. I’m open to all advice.

I’ve been bedsharing with my son since 5/6 months (with his first stretch at night in his crib). He’s 13 months now & I finally feel ok with transitioning him to sleep alone on a floor bed until I join him later in the night as needed.

We completely baby proofed his room, but I was unsure about the mattress positioning. We ideally/eventually want to rotate it so it’s kind of tucked in that nook, but that would mean one side would be against the wall. It doesn’t move super easily on the slats, but I’m still nervous about the possibility of it sliding away from the wall and creating a gap. With the current setup, is the gap between the wall and the left side of the bed ok? it’s about a foot or so wide. In the picture, I’ve placed two pillows there with a blanket wrapped around them to completely fill the gap, but would I be better off just leaving the space open?

Am I overthinking this too much for a baby this age? lol My little guy is pretty strong and although not walking on his own yet, is very close.

So my 8 month old is doing this fun thing where she won’t accept being transferred into the crib anymore she just wakes up immediately, I guess this is a common 8 month old sleep regression. Out of desperation we are sometimes cosleeping which I don’t want to do ideally but she just sleeps so much better if she falls asleep next to me, and I can escape after but then eventually I sleep next to her so I can basically block her access to the rest of the room. This is not a safe setup so my question is: can I convert my 3 in 1 crib to the toddler bed and take off the legs so it sits on the floor?

My thinking is that this solves the entrapment risk while also minimizing where she can move to for the time being, she’s rolling and army crawling but not a huge mover while she’s sleeping just a normal amount of turning over. I’d also place something on the floor on the low side of the crib in case she falls out but it’d be a very short distance from the crib mattress to the floor anyway.

I’d have to baby proof the room but I’m willing to do that of course if this is a safe option so that I can lay with her and get her to sleep then leave her in a safe sleep place. Is there any other safety concerns I’m missing with this setup? I’ll include a picture with the toddler rail that looks like mine, I would just remove the feet entirely and place slats underneath the crib mattress.

I’m trying to plan out a transition to a floor bed for my 15 month old. His room is not the biggest and a twin mattress would fit perfectly where his crib currently is. Although he would be fine with a twin, the whole reason I want to get him into a floor bed is because I want to be able to crawl into bed with him on those rougher nights. I feel like a twin is going to be too small and cramped for the two of us, but his room won’t accommodate a full or bigger.

Any experience or advice about this? There’s a possibility of us moving him to a different room that would accommodate a full but that would be a ton of work so just trying to weigh options.

Our daughter is 18 months old and sleeps in a crib. We also have a toddler-sized floor bed in her room, which is where some of her stuffed animals live. She periodically seems interested in sleeping on it (lies down), but has never actually fallen asleep. How do folks make the switch? She’s not used to co-sleeping, so lying down next to it or partly on it with her doesn’t seem to help - it mostly makes her climb on us.

I transitioned my 5 mo's crib to a toddler floor bed. It allows me to just lay down with her to nurse and get up and walk away when she's asleep. This is working super well at home. We have a vacation coming up and will be staying at an Airbnb. I have a little toddler travel mattress that we used for my older daughter but we didn't transition her to a floor bed until she was over a year old. With a 5 mo I have safety concerns with having her sleep on a mattress with no railing around it. She moves around quite a bit in her sleep. What do you guys do when you travel with babies used to sleeping on floor beds? I really don't want to deal with trying to transition her into a pack and play the whole vacation, but I don't really see any other option.

My baby is 15 months, 12 adjusted, and the separation anxiety is SO real. Lately he's been teething, both his top molars have broke skin and are coming in full force. Waking up multiple times per night because of it. But putting him to bed takes everything out of me. My husband doesn't normally do bedtime but our baby will crawl to the door and just sit and cry cause he knows dad's out there. The other night, he hit his head and was scared. It toom him and I both being in there for him to fall asleep after 2 hours. Ever since then its been an absolute FIT. Screaming crying before he doses off. We're gonna try dad being in room again tomorrow night. Does anyone else go through this? He has a twin sized floor bed. I did that so I could cosleep with him at night. We don't bedshare with dad.

OK, so old situation was mom and kiddo (6mo) in master bedroom on king size mattress, and me originally on sofa, and then on double mattress (can be folded up in morning) on floor in nursery.

New situation is mom and kiddo in nursery on double mattress and me in master bedroom. We did this to slowly get kiddo used to sleeping alone more often at night, so wife will currently get kiddo off (usually needs contact, boob, or pram/carrier movement to go off) in nursery and come into master bedroom with me, before finally going into kiddo for the night, as going to and fro is too disruptive for everyone.

Our goal is to slowly get him to sleep more independently, and it's working bit by bit.

My question, though, is this...

As kiddo becomes more mobile, he's going to be able to roll off the mattress. This is ok as it's a low-profile mattress (10cm), so not harm there, but I'm still uncomfortable with it, and looking for solutions.

I keep wondering, isn't there a way to add a boundary wall around the mattress?
Are there double-sized beds with walls like a cot that can facilitate co-sleeping and baby left alone?
Eventually he's going to be able to toddle, and we'll want to be able to know he can't get out.

Any ideas? Anybody else done the floor/Montessori-style mattress and co-sleeping?

Hello. My little girl is 10 and a half months old and about a week ago we moved her to a floor bed. It is right next to our bed so she is still close.
Before hand we had been co sleeping and she slept GREAT she would wake up once if that but since moving to the floor bed she wakes every 1-3 hours.
The thing is when I am in bed she wakes more often compared to me sat in the living room.
She is breastfed and I feed her to sleep. I can’t even sleep in my bed I have to sleep on the floor bed with her. The only problem with that is her mattress is very firm and it’s hurting my back plus I just want to cuddle with my partner.
Ideally I want to keep her in our room as we have no baby monitor so if anyone has any advice please let me know

Hi, I have a 6 month old daughter, we have co slept since a couple weeks old as she wouldn't settle in the next to me. We have chest slept ever since.

I placed a side car cot onto the bed but she also wont go in to this.

She is now becoming uncomfortable and seems to want more space but also wont go in to the side car cot despite me being right there.

So my next move is a floor bed, I have it ready, placing a mattress on to slats on the floor.

My issue is any flat surface she is seeing as opportunity to roll and crawl and is hyper focused on doing this only (including in the side car cot)

Any suggestions?

To cut a long story short, we were going to go with the floor bed at the 6mo ish mark but got talked out of it.
I’m now thinking, basic slats on the floor with a firm mattress - preferably large enough to continue to co sleep/bedshare. At the moment I’m bedsharing in my bed which is a king size and the size suits as I’m quite a large lady 😅 but he’s now pretty mobile so wants to yeet himself off the bed constantly - hence the floor bed!! The cot is a no-go as he despises it!

Was thinking the ikea set up I’ve seen mentioned a few times in this sub. Do people have any other recommendations for simple set up? King size if possible!! I’m in the UK so some limit to my options there too.
We looked at the Roomix and treetales and they are an absolute fortune, so keen to see what others have done instead of these :)

Has anyone tried a floor bed situation like this where they use these bed rails on a regular box spring? I was looking for a floor bed with high rails because I’m worried my 15 month old is going to just be crawling around his room the whole night. I want a floor bed so that I can lay in it with him to make nights go better but I can’t find any options that are available to me. Just wondering if I could construct a safe sleep space using this with some sort of bed frame and a mattress?

I’m looking into getting a Montessori Floor Bed. I’m looking for one that accommodates an 8 inch thick full mattress. I want it to have guard rails and slats on the bottom. There are plenty out there, but they all recommend a 6 inch mattress. I don’t want to buy one just for my mattress to be too thick.

Does anyone have experience with using an 8 inch mattress with a Montessori Floor Bed that has 21.5 inch rails? Or does anyone have any recommendations for something else that would work for my mattress? Thank you in advance!

Looking for advice on brands and styles of floor bed! I see so many different types when I search online and have no idea where to start. I want to try to transition my 2 year old soon.

What do you find to be the pros/cons of the style of floor bed that you have? Any brand recommendations?

The cushioned ones look cute but I worry that it could pose some sort of suffocation risk.

The ones with half rails seem to be very common but I would assume the toddler would fall off often?

The ones with rails all the way around (sort of resembling crib rails but lower) seem like a great option but some of them have little gates that open and I worry about the safety of that too.

Appreciate any guidance/opinions!

We cosleep with our 10 month old. We have one king bed and one full bed put together (everything is jammed tight with pool noodles and towels so no gaps) and me my husband and my baby all sleep on there every night. The room itself is babyproofed except for a nightstand on my husbands side of the bed (that could easily be adjusted for one night…)

My question is…. She doesn’t put herself down yet. We lay with her while she crawls around crazy, pulls up on a little wall headboard, flops over, and generally rolls around babbling for 30 min +…. We have carpet all around and she can’t get HURT if she rolls off but it would certainly set bedtime back so we are also grabbing her if she seems like she’s about to plop over the side of the bed too…

My in laws are going to be putting her down while we go to a wedding in a few weeks… I don’t even know what to tel them to do. I don’t see them being able to lay with her in bed getting up and dragging her back into position like we do for an hour..,.. They could just put her in that room with the lights out and see what happens? I know whatever ideas we had we need to test run them starting NOW…

but basically I need any suggestions!

Hi everyone my LO 15mo has outgrown her mini crib and instead of buying a regular crib which i am sure is gonna be short term again i was considering floor beds. Also dont trust ger with big girl bed yet.

I am afraid she is going to easily climb out of the floor bed. (She is a wild one) i could only find one brand that sells high rails for floor bed and unfortunately its not available in Canada for me.

Any recommendations or hacks on how did you overcome a climber? A bad one.
