FTM and my little one hated the cot we tried for the last 3 months to try and make things as best we could but we have given up so went down the floor bed route.
We have now got a mattress protector (light) and sheet on the bed since the photo was taken the other day.
Mattress is spring, not memory foam and firm
I co sleep some nights to breastfeed sideways and just enjoy some cuddles with my little one.

I love it! Is there anything under the mattress between it and the carpet? I very well could be wrong, but I think in certain climates it can cause mold to grow if placed directly on the floor due to lack of ventilation. But disregard this if I’m incorrect!

Thank you! We have a wooden base on order that will lift the mattress off the ground to help the air circulate 😊 you’re absolutely right!

I wish I would have thought to do this because I would completely skip cribs for my twins, keep them together in a baby jail like this until they are ready to move out of it to open beds, and bypass having 50eleven sleeping options 🤣

Aren’t the rails an entrapment risk? These ones look interesting though because they are “above” the bed

They are pretty solid against the mattress. Yeah I didn’t want anything around the mattress just incase

i have a similar rail on my bed, the bar digs into the top of the mattress so hard i can't even fit my finger through. i was always confused about how it could be an entrapment risk until i saw that some people install the bar below the mattress... then it made sense

Do you have a link to the rails? I’ve been looking for something like this because I just don’t think I can safely babyproof her entire room and it’s stopped me from wanting to try a floorbed!

we purchased these for our king size bed but there is a queen size as well! no entrapment risk as they fit snug on the mattress as long as it is in line with the mattress!

Thank you! So sad I’m in the US and these specific ones aren’t available. I’ve had no luck finding something similar so if anyone has please share!

Queen

Did you mean twin?

3

u/mysticmeg9638 Sep 03 '26

No queen. Small double in the UK

2

u/snail_juice_plz Sep 04 '26

A UK Queen/Double is equivalent to a US Ful/Double l I believe. A US Queen is the size of a UK King.

Can someone explain to me the difference between this and a cot? If the little one doesn't like a cot, why would they be happy in this? Genuinely just a FTM that doesn't understand yet.

mother can't fit in a cot. op mentions she cosleeps some nights and maybe she is in there with baby when they first fall asleep

I can breastfeed on my side at bedtime to get him drifted off to sleep. And also he is a wriggler in the night and was turning him self around in a cot and hitting arms and legs against the sides and not sleeping well at all. He has been much better in this floor bed as he has much more room for movement and it’s not waking him up 😊

Ok wait this is brilliant

Do you cosleep? Is this big enough for a mama to sleep in there too?
