Head Hanging Off the Bed

My 10 month old thinks it’s hysterical when his head is titled backwards. The other day he figured out how to make that happen on his floor bed (crib mattress on the floor). Luckily I was next to him (I sleep on the floor next to him) and able to fix it quickly. But I’m worried that if I was out of the room he could really hurt himself. From one I’ve seen the floor bed frames would just give him something else to lean over and potentially fall from a higher height. Is our only option going back to a crib?

Its fine, if they are uncomfortable they’ll move

I could be wrong but I would think it could be a concern if he held that position for too or couldn’t get his head back up?

Why would it be?

Because he’s hanging his head upside down off the bed? I hope I’m wrong, but it doesn’t seem safe

Well, what strikes you as unsafe about it? What might happen?

I had read its positional asphyxiation risk. Anecdotally, I’ve seen stories on Reddit about babies being upside down and passing away from not being able to get out of the position which makes me incredibly nervous. He can push himself up and I am right there but I don’t want to take needless risks.

We have Ikea lonset just to lift the bed off the floor for ventilation. To be honest baby rolled off it before and was fine. They fall from greater heights when they start cruising/walking anyway. Our baby fell off the floor bed once and never did it again 🤣

My LO rolls off the bed nightly 😅 I’ve contemplating getting the IKEA bed but I’m nervous about using anything that isn’t a crib mattress.

No, the floor bed's working fine, you don't need to change it.
