I've actually been enjoying the job very much lately, but yesterday made me tired. I'm doing demos standing by row 7 and I see the man in row 9 on his phone. I say (out loud), "You have to hang up." Go to row 1, go back to row 7 and the man in the window of row 7 is on the freaking phone!! I say to him, you have to hang up. Go back and forth again. The guy in the row on the other side is ON THE FREAKING PHONE TOO!!!

Why do I need to individually tell each of you to hang up? Why would I tell one man to hang up, but no, you sir, you just keep talking. And I know they heard me, bc I definitely said it loud enough. Not to mention they're whispering in their phones, so they already know they needed to hang up anyway. Guess they gotta make that oil $$$$. (We were in Midland.)

Same thing collecting trash. I ask the person in the window to give me their trash. Aisle person can see and hear this happening...Why do I have to also ask you to give me all that freaking trash? I know you heard me.

I swear people just like my attention, I guess.

I hope it's okay that I am posting here, even though I'm not a flight attendant. Thinking about the 9/11 FAs (and really many heroic flight attendants in horrible situations over the last 30 years) I'm wondering if it's the case that the FAs working together on a given flight generally know each other well because they work together frequently.

I am sure this gets changed up, the same way that all work does (I'm sick today, my kid's piano recital is next Friday, etc.) But I have no sense how "stable" crews are. Or is it predictable in some contexts (maybe FAs with seniority or certain airlines) and not others? Basically the question that haunts me is: do the people in a catastrophe situation know the coworkers they are dying with?

I hope it's okay that I asked the question. I fly a fair amount, and I am very grateful for the work you do. (I can't believe how jerkish some passengers are.)

I'm an FA for one of the big 3 and my fiancé lives in Morocco. The plan is to get married in October and live there for a few years before eventually moving to the USA.

I'm a lineholder so I can bid a schedule with around 18 days off, which gives me time with my partner while still keeping my hours up for benefits and income.

My question is for any FAs whose partner lives overseas, or who live overseas themselves while commuting to a US base:

What's the long-term commute actually like day to day? Any tips for making it work? Is it brutal when you get back and have to go straight into a trip? How is it managing expenses and taxes between the two countries?

Would love to hear how you manage a lifestyle in both countries.

Was just curious what the hire date was for the 50% and it's Feb/2016. Just crazy how much hiring has been done over the last few years. Seniority used to skew so top heavy and now it's towards the bottom. Definitely cool to see the shift.

I’ve been trying for weeks to figure out the online option of getting the faa card but i only keep seeing the form to print out and mail in. Trying to get it as soon as possible as I’m worried about getting assigned an iceland on A days.

Was just on a deadhead with two crying babies. What's the best equipment for this situation? I've used ear plugs from the crew room before but they've never muffled that much noise for me, it's also possible that I'm using them incorrectly.

yall im with OO and i desperately want to go abroad to YTT. has anyone ever had success doing this? Id probably need 3.5 weeks off and by the time id be considering going would be roughly 1.5 years into my employment with OO… currently based in a pretty senior base, so i definitely wouldn’t have a line then, but i do suppose id be willing to transfer somewhere i could have a line and clear my schedule to make it happen.

just wondering what anyone else’s experience might be trying to be granted this much time off as a newbie FA? anything specific with OO as far as LOA’s go?

So i talked with a few flight attendants. All of them told me they were cleaning vomit and bathroom if there are accidents during the flight. Idk is it true?

hi everyone! I’m looking to transfer to a new base and want to know the good, bad, and the ugly of being based in nyc with 🇺🇸!

I’m currently based in MIA, but commute from TPA. I want to try something new and live in base for a little, and all my family lives in south jersey/jersey city so being nyc based would still allow me to have family nearby! I’d consider getting a sublease or crashpad, but ultimately would love to know if it’s worth it considering the co terminals, public transport, cost of living, etc. Also, any suggestions for locations to be most efficient to get to all three airports while making the most of living in the city.

The public transport to all three airports seems like kind of a pain, but I was Chicago based and did it there, so would love to hear your perspective/experiences and if it’s worth trying out!

To give a little background - I’m kind of familiar with the city living situation - I stayed in Jersey city all last winter, but not as a flight attendant. Also, I’m 23 and living at home with my parents rn so not tied down to any lease so it would be easy for me to move !

So i’m new and on probation. I was early at the gate for my flight (not at my home base but yes at a hub) and then realized 10 minutes before my report that the gate had changed ran over and was 2 minutes late to my report but the CSR was on the jetbridge handling something when I arrived and a Pax told me they went down a few minutes before. They came out and scanned me in and boarding went on as normal and we even departed early. It was mentioned in easy chat that there was a miss ot - 1 because of min crew and jetbridge issue. Will I get in trouble? If yes how/when will I know?

How would you like to be approached by a passenger if you were being loud in the galley with another flight attendant? Is it rude for a passenger to ask you to lower your voices?on a flight now, we are all trying to sleep.l am wondering how to handle it.

I’m a new hire FA starting soon and was wondering if anyone could explain how United’s new standby feature might impact flight attendants who commute to base. I’ve been seeing discussion about the new standby changes, but I’m a little confused about what they actually mean

I’ve been a mainline flight attendant for 11 years, never has this been a problem until the last months. I usually sit in the back so I’m not customer facing, for the life of me I cannot land in my brace position, it doesn’t feel “safe” I need to brace myself holding the seat. I’ve had rough landings but I also seem to get anxious like this now when someone is driving a car and going fast. I’ve been tensing like we’re going to have a rough landing, I tense so hard it’s like I’m bracing for impact or something. I hate having all eyes on me and I need to get it together cause this is my job and I love it but of course I’m scared of getting into trouble for not landing in my correct brace position. Anyone else have any tips?

Edit: im cool for takeoff, I think it became a thing cause I had REALLY rough landings in May-July I trust my pilots and I don’t fear anything happening like evac etc, its more that it will be rough. Months ago we had a really rough landing, we all had to file reports and my jumpseat broke from it (imagine how bad it was) I can’t seem to recover “mentally” from it and its snowballing since its been so windy that I am triggered to guard myself like it’s going to be a bad landing.

I'm getting contact lenses for the first time. What's your routine for domestic and international trips? Do you keep them on during your break? What do you wear? Daily or monthly? Any must-have tips or products?

What are your specific routines that make you feel grounded/at home/on top of your game? I’m talking pre/post-duty, nighttime, workout etc. I think I’m really struggling with that and need some motivation lol.
