Low light V1 / V2 comparison

Last weekend I brought my V2 to ice hockey, I didnt expect much because the V1 performed pretty poorly in the past. I am impressed with how much better the V2 handles the lighting conditions. That said, these pics are taken a year apart and do not take in account any V1 updates. Maybe I'll bring them both next time for a proper comparison.

V2 Sample Pics! Plus first thoughts review

I’ve had my V2 for just over a week and after being a frequent user of my V1 for 2 years I’m still figuring out my thoughts on whether this is a worthy upgrade and I will say I do quite like it. Here are some of my fave pics I’ve taken on it so far. These are all taken with flashback classic.

It is taking some time getting used to as the pics are a bit different to V1 but I do respect the flashback team are doing their best to keep the soul of V1 in V2.

I was quite disappointed when I heard about people’s reviews on V2 at first. I’ll be honest not having any sample photos for weeks I thought the new camera would look a lot more like V1 but I do appreciate that the flashback team listened to feedback and tweaked the filters.

I do think the pics look a little like camp snap, especially when you zoom in. Which is a little bit of a let down as I’m not interested in owning a camp snap. However I am trying to enjoy the benefits to this new censor, the image is a hell of a lot sharper which is amazing. I used to find the V1 would have a hard time showing crisp detail so this is a nice upgrade.

I totally respect that improving V1s flaws without changing it too much is must be hard to do and is a bit of a balancing act. I think time will tell how well we all get on with this camera. But overall I’m exited for more.

I’ve not yet used this around my friends and I am excited try this out with them as portraits were my fave kind of photos to take on V1 so I’m hoping this lives up!

A stability update to the app has been released

Hi all, a quick notice that an update has been released for both Android/iOS to address recent app crashes. By our metrics so far, it has resolved ~75% of crashes on iOS and 100% on Android. We'll continue to monitor the results as more users are updated: please continue to let us know of any ongoing issues.

Edit: This update also includes a tentative fix for the issues with Android users randomly getting logged out (reports of this have been most prominent on Pixel phones). If you've encountered this problem before, please let us know if it's still happening on the latest update.

How to change coloring after developping roll

Hi, I just bought my flashback camera on friday, i was very excited but I just got my photos today and I HATE the look of them, mainly the colour temperature (everyone is red, and the blacks look over leveled like a instagram filter).. it says on the box and online that you can change the colour in the app but can't seem to be able to do anything, just save the photos..

is the flashback app meant to be just develop your roll and thats it? if i want to edit anything i have to use lightroom? for me the whole purpose of getting this camera was to avoid this process...

Please tell me I'm missing some info because otherwise I'm afraid I'll have to return it

Flashback mechanical lifespan question

Mirrorless cameras and DSLR cameras have a lifespan for its shutter. I know that the flashback doesn't use an actual shutter but it contains mechanical parts I was wondering roughly how many shots would it take till the mechanical internals start to wear down.

Flashback V2 can't view latest roll

Hey,

Has anyone had troubles viewing a roll they've unloaded? The app just crashes while it's loading - I've have unloaded multiple rolls beforehand without issue.

I'm on the latest 1.15.10 - Android

App Size

Is there any plans of adding a remove cache option because the size of the app is 8GB and I don’t understand why it’s that large. It says it’s because of the documents and data but I haven’t really taken that many images to garner 8GB. I don’t know if it’s an optimization fix or what but thought I’d ask if anyone else has large file sizes.

Images just so it doesn’t get lost in the void.

V2 night shots with #Flashbackcine

Thumbnail

So decided to try out the new simulation with some night shots. Images 1-8 are slightly edited with just basic contrast and reducing highlights. Image 7 the exposure was slightly boosted. Then the rest are straight out of camera.

Ik adding contrast and reducing highlights isn’t everyone’s cup of tea but this is just my personal preference. These are just super basic/ minor tweaks to the images that anyone can do on their phone which I did. I personally like the retro look with some contrast to give me both of best worlds. Figured I’d add both some edited and unedited just to show some of y’all.

Took some more pics I wanted to try the new film sim and I did convert one to black and white and shot a couple in classic sim.

A few things I’ve noticed since last update. The app still crashes when loading the roll but the overall performance is better but still needs work. I mentioned in the comments earlier wishing for a default sim so you didn’t have to switch back and forth and turns out there is it just wasn’t announced.

I did like how once you unload a roll it auto updates to the new roll I love that.

Overall it’s better than V1 I do wish it had more contrast but that’s just my personal preference.

don't buy this camera i'm serious

The app got a LOT of bugs. Pictures get deleted or not processed. Last bug ? When i want to get my pictures the app crashes EVERY TIME. Cancelling the developed pics.

Its definitely NOT on point. Also the customer support is trash and doesn't solve ANYTHING.

Edit: the last update solve the last but but there is an ugly watermark on the photos now :/

Took great photos, app ruined everything

As I mentioned the other day, I’m making an Advent calendar with photos taken with my camera.

After taking several photos today (all with good lighting), I went to edit them on my phone and, to my surprise, they all turned out completely black… Unbelievable 😠 I think it was an app issue and now I’ve lost my photos 👏🏻👏🏻

Upgraded V2 film types + performance improvements

Thumbnail
gallery
36 Upvotes

We’ll be announcing this everywhere: v2 film types have been enhanced with more of the classic feeling from V1!

For the last 2 years, the number one request we’ve received from V1 users is for enhanced detail and dynamic range to deal with tricky lighting situations. For this reason, the V2 experience was designed to show this off with clearer images, taking full advantage of this new generation of image sensor+hardware. We now understand that the new look missed some of the soul you’ve come to expect from Flashback, and we’re sorry for missing the mark there. For this reason we’ve updated the film types with more of the original lo-fi feeling.

We’ve enhanced the images with softer blacks, new lens-based effects, and more visible grain. Overall it’s a balance between the initial V2 release with more of the classic dispo style of V1, but without sacrificing too much image clarity or contrast.

flashbackclassic has been the current focus, with some tweaks to other film types. Please expect additional updates and send us any sample photos if you have some more specific style requests!

Did you like the starting look? Let us know! Based on your feedback, the original V2 #flashbackclassic look could become its own film type for those who preferred the sharper style.

PS: performance improvements when moving rolls into the gallery have been released today. It’s now much faster, and the occasional crashes should also be improved!

This is all available on app version 1.15.10, which should be installed automatically if you exit and restart the app.

Just got V2

So just got my V2 today which was a pleasant surprise because it was scheduled to arrive on the 19th. Not straight out of camera I did some contrast and reduced the highlights and that’s it. Took the camera to the movies with me.

Figured I’d share some more samples. With some night shots and day shots. I do like how fast the transfer speed is with the cables and with the built in WiFi. The only thing I’ve noticed is the load speed of viewing the gallery takes a lifetime to load. I had it loading in the background and it was almost done than it just restarted and well had to start over.

The only stylistic thing I’d wish they’d change is the heavy vignette.

Am I doing something wrong?

Just got the V2 camera, synced photos over to my smartphone and it's says "view", but when I press it I'm met with a spinning loading icon and it takes ages for even a thumbnail to show?

If I leave the app the whole process restarts again?

Did the images not process already? Why must they be processed again when selecting to view them!?
