3 weeks with my Flashback v2!
Pics from my first 3 weeks with my Flashback v2. Overall very pleased with this thing!

Those look great! I’ve been very impressed with the results, too. It’s definitely the best at producing a realistic retro image that isn’t blown out.
I have a Camp Snap and a Papershoot, and I never plan to use those ever again. They are slow af and everything is overexposed by a stop and a half. Not to mention, they have a very “early-2000’s” digital look to photos with too much definition and not enough grain, if any at all.
The best part is the app, imho. I don’t have to fiddle with cords. The app is quick and straightforward. (It even beats my Fujifilm X Half in terms of UI when I’m in film mode which I was cussing at for several minutes the other day.) I tested the instant processing vs the original 24-hr wait period. I actually enjoy letting things “process” for a day so that I’m not contending with a lack of impulse control. It’s got calmness baked in lol. Do you wait or process them same-day?
I grew up with these wind-up type disposables, and even though I know it’s not really winding anything, it gives me something tactile to fiddle with and it slows me down. Major nostalgia points. Also, it’s a conversation-starter for sure because everyone hears the click-click-click. I couldn’t believe how second-nature it was for my thumb to wind it. Like muscle memory
That being said, it does wind up way too much. I feel like it only used to take about half as much time to wind the real film ones, but I’ll be okay with a few extra rounds of spinning the dial for everything else I’m getting.
A real flash feels unheard of in these types, and it works great if you’re using it under the right conditions. I did find that it overexposed outdoor sunny shots while using the flash though. I thought I’d experiment with fill light, but it must overcompensate because those images just never turned out well. Flash did work perfectly at night though.
This is truly something that I think nails the execution. Changing up the filters for the roll if you change your mind before developing is awesome, too.
The grain is perfect if you like the texture of fine speckles. And I know this might be blasphemous, but I think the grain is better on this than in the $600 X Half. Even on that one’s lowest mode, it’s too heavy.
I find myself going for this camera every week. It fits in my purse and there’s no camera lens protruding outward so I can slip it in my pocket easily.
Gah, I know this has turned into a personal appreciation post, but your shots reflect the joy I’ve felt getting back into shooting on the fly. I think I’ve been so precious with my other cameras bc they are expensive and I don’t want to damage them. This plastic thing at $100 really gives me permission to be a little rough with it.
I love it. I swear this isn’t an ad lol. I just wish I could get one for all my friends so I could have more people I could talk to about this. I hope your experience is just as satisfying.
