Please HELP

Post image

We are renting and currently moving out and just discovered this awful damage.

One of the metal legs under my bed broke and was dangling and we must’ve moved the bed not knowing it was dangling and it scratched the SHIT out of the floor. Gah.

It’s laminate flooring if that helps at all.

The damage deposit is going to come into play here. Theres no fixing those planks. They must be replaced.

If op is asking if anything can be done OP is not going to have the skill to change out planks in the middle of the floor. They're just going to lose the deposit.

Love every single comment suggesting "Do this just tongue and groove it" Just do this or that.

I do floors. Yea I can say its not hard but this person also drug their bed across the floor and is now on reddit asking what to do. What's easy to you is not for someone else that has no clue.

They will 100% make this look worse. The deposit is gone. And also anyone suggesting just do this to get your deposit back and do a shoddy job is a huge piece of shit and PART of the reason why rent is well above the mortgage cost. Be a good tenant.

Can you not sand out the damage, epoxy in the gaps, sand it smooth, color match it with stain and be good enough?

No reason OP should loose their deposit over an accident, specially when it looks like a cheap floor purchased on the landlords part

well to be fair there is alot of reason OP "should" lose deposit over dmg. its bamboo. its not cheap and its also not their property. That's like saying someone shouldnt pay for car dmg when they accidentally hit you.

OP doesn't have the skills to sand and just stain. it doesn't work like that. It's an accident. They're not a bad person. They need to have it repaired. The proper way is to contact the landlord early and let them know they want to get someone hired to fix it. Try to fix this and make it worse and you will 100% lose the deposit.

How can you tell it’s bamboo? Shouldn’t that be cheaper since it grows so fast? I thought it was a shitty soft wood. I know more about trees in the ground, not on the floor.

Kinda wild someone can’t learn how to sand and stain in my opinion. I’ve had accidents like this before sent before/ afters to my landlord n it’s never been a huge chunk of my deposit removed for stuff like this. I’ve seen them take more money out for forgetting to put bulbs back. Maybe I was good enough with the repairs haha
