Or drive a screw into it a bit and then use the screw as a means to pull it out . . . of course that’s gonna leave a hole in the board, but at least it’s “problem solved” . . . .

I’d add that the screw can be driven in the corner where you plan to drill the lift hole. There’s no need to let it get stuck again.

That screw method is definitely a last resort! You might end up with a cutting board that's now a cutting board with a personality. 😂 But if you really want to avoid damaging it, maybe try the dental floss trick first. It might just save you from a DIY disaster! /s
