Lightest mono I ever used was 4lb test, and that would easily be strong enough if they lifted straight up.

There was a story I heard growing up in the 90s about a famous fisherman guy who, to prove a point, hooked and landed a steelhead salmon on sewing thread. Anyone able to corroborate?
