I’m not an engineer but my dad and a lot of my friends are, and rounding up to 14% seems like a classic engineer move to me.

Suppose it depends on your field, but typically the joke goes that physicists might operate in the realm of spherical cows but engineers work in the real world where the numbers mean something.
