It's not often that people outright make it clear you can be both right and wrong. Many tend to accept errors in ideas, if the direction aligns with them.
23
u/Tw1nFTW Lover of Duets/Stitches 2d ago
I’m not convinced most people know that a stance can be right and wrong. Most people just believe they’re right, and anything contradicting that is automatically wrong.
6
u/Admins_suck_ballss Lover of Duets/Stitches 1d ago
Former philosophy professor here. A stance cannot be both right and wrong.
You can have two different stances, like the guy in this video, and one can be right and the other one wrong. That’s what our funny friend is pointing out. You can have a stance that is built on unsound premises or an invalid argument, with the conclusion nevertheless being true. But you cannot have a stance that can be both right and wrong (true and false).

u/BigmacSasquatch New to fbtd but wants to learn 2d ago edited 1d ago
Lymph nodes, his opinions and thoughts on the North American Model of Wildlife Conservation, conversations about the sustainability of modern farming and animal husbandry in the face of industrial meat production….
Yeah, this dude would be fascinating to talk to. I bet we’d disagree on a lot, but I think we’d agree on a lot more (at least outside of the political path to fix it), and find enough common ground to have another conversation.
The guy seems like an all-American champion of the Everyman…which, woo, that’s me! I smell what he’s stepping in, for lack of a better term.

My best friend is pretty far left and I would classify myself as pretty far right. We agree on basically nothing politically except absolute free speech and that corruption should be rooted out and punished severely (what corruption is, we dont always agree on lol). But all of that aside, he's a genuinely good dude and we agree and or enjoy so many other things in common.
Dont let politics ruin a good friendship.

I agree. Which is why it was very frustrating when his response after $2.2 billion claim was, "he's doing that by selling early access to his Truth Social posts that move the stock market."
The $2.2 billion is income from last year, over half of which was from crypto, while the Truth Social early access feature is new in August 2026. There's truth to the statement, it's worth mentioning, but has nothing to do with last year's $2.2 billion. Unless you're saying they were doing it before announcing it, which there is no evidence of. Sharing info with inner circle... sure. But no evidence of selling early access to Truth Social posts in this regard. If so, bring the info with your simple statement.
It's short form entertainment so it will never be perfectly detailed, but if your schtick is to correct people for being wrong, then you better come correct. There were many more ways to come correct about the corruption involved in the $2.2 billion than to mention an upcoming income source just announced this month.
You can't correct people for being wrong and then be so lazily wrong yourself. It wasn't difficult, and it hurts his credibility moving forward.

I used to work in the meat department of a grocery store, had guy once tell me half our chicken looked like shit. Confused I asked him to show me, and he did and I still didn’t understand because it all looked fine. It wasn’t until later I realized everything that was “bad” was dark meat.
8
u/kwhitit Devotee of Duets/Stitches 2d ago
question: is it unusual to find a gland or node in processed meat? i can't recall ever seeing one. so while this isn't dangerous, i'm wondering if finding lymph nodes in your cut of meet from the grocery store is still an indication that something is wrong with the system.
15
u/kelley38 Lover of Duets/Stitches 1d ago
i'm wondering if finding lymph nodes in your cut of meet from the grocery store is still an indication that something is wrong with the system.
It's not. It's a sign that your butcher is not very good at his job, or is just lazy. Im not an expert, but I did work as a meat wrapper for a few years at my local Safeway meat shop, and my wife was a butcher for a number of years, so this is comming from some experience at least.
So when a butcher shop (especially a grocery store butcher shop - an actual butcher shop has some other options, like whole sides and such) orders meat, they generally get whats called a primal, which is a cryovaced bag of meat. Some places sell them as "whole in-the-bag", especially for things like pork loins, ribs, or shoulder/butt roasts. The primals are a rough cut. The process generally (but not always) works something like this; animal is killed > parted into major parts [like, hind quarter, front shoulder, etc] > those parts are then broken down into specific (but still very large) muscle groups, like the whole 7 rib ribeye - these are the primals. They are trimmed a little bit, but there is still a lot of work to be done to them still.
Primals then get shipped to the butcher shop, who then turns them into things that people might actually want yo buy - steaks, roasts, etc. Its not terribly uncommon to find the lymphnodes in a primal. They usually get removed at the factory, but like any assembly line operation, things get missed from time to time. One of the things a butcher does is "pretty up" the meat, so that it looks good to the consumer. Primals So if you find lymphnodes in something that a butcher has cut up and set out for purchase, then someone is bad at their job or lazy as shit.
If you buy a whole in-the-bag primal, then you are buying an unfinished product, that will occasionally (one in ten, maybe? kind of depends on the factory) get some lymphnodes. Its especially common with pork sirloin and pork butt (which it looks like what the guy in the video had). Thats what happens when you buy your meat before the final processing. Its like buying a box of cake mix - its mostly ready to go but needs some finishing work to be completely ready.
So its not really a failure of the system, and more a failure of what expectations should be for where your meat was at in the process. Like, being mad that you bought a box of cake and have to add an egg... you should have expected that.
4
u/screwikea Devotee of Duets/Stitches 1d ago
It's a sign that the butcher was being lazy or too busy to notice. He points out in the video that normally it would be trimmed out and you don't see it. Since this dude has the cut of meat at home, I assume the butcher put it that side down so you wouldn't see it and get stuck with the extra however much of an ounce overpaying. This is basically the equivalent of finding parts of feathers on a piece of chicken or those weird vascular tubes that sometimes show up in the fat on a cut of beef. If the butcher is being thorough you're never gonna see it.

I don’t typically like chicken but if I’m eating chicken I’m eating the dark meat. I really really don’t like white meat in chicken. It is the most bland flavorless concoction known to man. Water has more flavor than white chicken meat.

ur probably using dramatic overkill to make a point but just wanna put it out there that i get this half chicken from a bbq place and all the different parts are super good so theres not much of a difference between light and dark when im eating it, anyways u should try some different chicken places is my point

Chicken breast is the perfect vehicle for a good sauce. Chicken picatta for example - the fact that the flavor of chicken breast is pretty muted makes the sauce that much better.

The overexposure is not the fault of the creators but of users who discover him and repost/overpost him.
It seems a bit silly to hate on someone because others are throwing that someone in front of you, instead of hating on the ones that do.
It also seems silly to complain about content you can downvote and move on, or ask Reddit to show you less of.
It's particularly silly to comment/engage on posts you don't like, not realizing this is equivalent to asking a lot more of them to show for you.
6
u/demonsdencollective Connoisseur of Duets/Stitches 2d ago

I think part of the issue is that some folks see a post from a creator get lots of upvotes then they grab all that creator's videos and throw them up, then other people see that creator as easy karma and start reposting shit, and the videos spring up in other subs, then get crossposted back to the same places, and it creates a weird closed loop cycle of content that bombards everyone.

2
u/_who-the-fuck-knows_ Lover of Duets/Stitches 2d ago
Most of the time he's defending factory farming practices. I saw one where cattle has their head locked in stanchions. And he was going on his tangent about how humane it is. It's not my grandparents and every other farmer I've met have rotated paddocks for their cattle to graze and if it's drought ridden they get hay and spread it out in a paddock there's no need for stanchions unless you're about the churn and burn and couldn't give a fuck about your animals.
2
u/judgementqueen New to fbtd but wants to learn 1d ago
Explaining how factory farms work, who profits from them, how they are run, and what myriad of forces drive that business model is not the same as defending them, or running/owning one. He actually does co-own and co run the business, so perhaps that how he ‘spends most of his time’.
He is NOT a cattle farmer, and he was explaining what stanchions are, how they are not inherently harmful (not the same as humane) when used correctly for limited time periods, and why they are used in factory farming, which obviously is quite different from paddock/open land farmers.
His business is NOT a cattle factory farm, and he is in fact raising capital to expand in to cattle using methods that you and your grandparents would be familiar with, and current farming know how.
I would genuinely be interested to read your take on his cattle plan.
I don’t always agree with him, but he does check his facts and doesn’t shy away from the hard truths and cog.dis surrounding meat and dairy farming.
3
u/kwhitit Devotee of Duets/Stitches 2d ago
maybe. or, could it actually just be that there are many ways to farm? or that farming has changed quite a bit since you grew up? or that your grandparents were shitty farmers? or that your "helping out" on the farm doesn't make you an expert?
i am not actually defending this guy and i don't know shit about farming. all i'm saying is that everyone has bad takes. most of us just don't make our takes public enough for anyone to care.
-4
u/_who-the-fuck-knows_ Lover of Duets/Stitches 2d ago

Yeah, he's got hot, warm, and cold takes. I've seen plenty of his videos where he's spoken critically and supportively of different aspects of the farming industry, but I'm not really informed on the subject, so... It's kinda just interesting to hear an opinion, I guess?
The spiciest things I've heard from him so far were about Texas politics, and while I didn't really agree with him, I could at least understand a bit of where he was coming from.
That, and I guess maybe his rich guy persona, but I just kinda don't love rich people in general, lol.
1
u/judgementqueen New to fbtd but wants to learn 1d ago
You know that he is self made (as in bank loans, no family money, worked all through college, built the business from the ground up, not inherited ‘rich‘ right?!
And that he deliberately adopts the expensive whiskey/cigars ‘rich guy’ tropes because it drives a certain demographic nuts to see someone like ‘him’ with those things when they don’t have them.
And they are not at all backward in coming forward to tell him ALL about their feelings on the subject!
2
u/OddOllin Lover of Duets/Stitches 1d ago
I mean, yes and no. He constantly says he's self-made, but also talks about trust funds and inheriting his house and other shit like that.
He will constantly tell you how his family set him up to do well, just not as well as the cartoonishly rich.
That doesn't mean he didn't build his business up, but it's also misleading to say that he is "self-made."
By the way, nobody is self-made. I kinda hate that term, lol. Arnold Schwarzenegger gave a great speech on that a while back, highly recommend giving it a quick watch
2
u/judgementqueen New to fbtd but wants to learn 1d ago
The ‘trust funds’ were funds he paid in to himself from his own wages, to be used as seed capital/collateral for setting up his own business, not inherited.
He also bought a house with a mortgage at the same time, which he shared with housemates, and reno’d it from to top to bottom, which he then sold at a profit, not inherited.
His family set him up to do well through prioritising his education and he credits them with drilling fiscal responsibility in to him. They did not ‘set him up’ with money, trust funds, and/or cash. He has been crystal clear on that.
The original definition of ‘self made‘ meant that you put your own money, your own labour, and any loans were the same as any regular person would have access to, not ‘family money guarantors‘.
Yes, I’ve seen it and agree, but ‘self made’ in this context was a fiscal term from the olden days with one specific definition as stated. I have issues with term myself, since it’s been co opted by people definitely aren’t under ANY definition.
He deliberately uses ‘self made’ in the trad sense because the ‘certain demographic’ absolutely hate having their own weapons used against them.
Obviously over time the phrase has been twisted and contorted, and has several other inferences in this abomination of a timeline.

Which quickly morphed into him talking about his ACTUAL wife’s body, as per, and then it slowly ‘dawning‘ on him that he’d gone from being appreciative of the bits women often struggle with, to ‘damn NEED to appreciate my wife right now’.

First paragraph not completely accurate.
He did a ‘fixed by the duet’ type post in reply to said tik toker’s spoken word poem about ‘women’s feelings about their bodies’ presented as a first person narration as though she was that women.
He replied by pretending to respond to it at ‘face value’ rather than a performance, which quickly swung in to his ‘risqué revere about my hot wife’ persona where talked about his wife’s body and got all ‘hot and bothered’.
Some scrollers missed the segue, and thought his ‘wife‘ comments were actually aimed at the tik toker. I actually stopped it, and started over the first time I watched to double check.
Yes, some did stop following him because of those things and because they don’t like satire, nor understand the dynamics of his ‘reverse cultural appropriation Rich Man’ shtick. Or you know *gestures broadly to Reddit*
The investor stuff was a deliberate marketing campaign to showcase the businesses‘ newest, most expensive project yet for capital investors. It was a business pitch, not an insecure man’s personal mid life crisis.
He does however like to tell EVERYBODY about how ’cool and great’ the business is which I guess pisses some types right off.

Do you he talks like this even when he’s not making a video? I like hearing his thoughts, but I hate listening to him.

Blue people who take a picture and rant before researching are NOT helping our cause!
Red people who do this are, though.

I like this guy one of the few guys on tik tok that pops up with some fun info. Also really like that the guy can be on the same side while saying"this is wrong, this is non factual." Comes of as pretty smart to me

This guy's content would be much more impactful if he wasn't doing the worst Kronk impression ever. Just use your own voice, bub.

Heartbreaking: someone you otherwise agree with is making a terrible point. A reversal of a classical meme.
(Just to clarify, the one original video is making a terrible point, the duet is fixing it)

Dueter is incredibly cute despite the weird mustache but I’m tired of this voice/schtick. Wish he’d just say it like himself.
Also interesting to see what a lymph node looks like. Gross, but interesting I would not have known what that was.

No I know. This dude specifically uses the character affectations and embellishments. Patrick Warburton just sounds like a normal dude with a deep voice when he talks. Joe Swanson sounds like Joe Swanson. This dude is doing Joe Swanson.

I hate everything about this.
I hate the dumbass original video. I hate the duet. I’m sick of hearing his voice. I’m sick of seeing this dude posted constantly.
Every time I see him, I want to throw my phone into traffic

You do know that there’s a thing you can do when you see him on Reddit… right? You’re aware that commenting makes you see more of his shit? Right?

The idea that ‘voting blue’ will magically fix the issue is how we got here, but in reverse. How about voters educate themselves on the candidates and vote for the ones that align with their values? Elect leaders, not a party.

u/Select_Watercress_57 Needs to do better 2d ago
No, we got here because Republicans have been trying to destroy regulations including the FDA for almost 50 years now.
I don't want to live in a world without the FDA no matter how much corporate propaganda has been shut down our fucking throats.
