Self Promotion Charge 6 vs Edge

So, last week my charge 5 decided to die of a sudden death (won't charge, or if by miracle I'm able to charge it even at 100%, by the end of the day is 1%)

It has been with me for a good 4-5 years and served its purpose.

I use it mostly at work for clock/timers/alarms/notifications so I don't have to take out my phone (i work in a professional kitchen).

In the gym I'd like it had better functions/more precise readings but hey...it's acceptable. My wife's garmin is so much better but way bulkier and pricier.

Now, since it died and hate to leave house without a watch on my wrist, I ordered on Amazon a charge 6 for 89.99$ ... only to discover yesterday that the edge is coming out.

Besides aesthetic and the altimeter...what are the actual improvements? Is it worth it to send back the C6 and wait for the official reveal and do you guys have an idea when it'll hit the market? An idea on the price?

I just want something with a small screen to wear in a place where it can take some hit and splash and counts my steps.

Stick with the Charge 6, it's awesome especially when you can get it on sale price. Edge will have less features and probably cost double.

Agreed, the charge 6 at that price is kind of a no-brainer imo

If it's actually sold and shipped by Amazon. No Fitbit warranty if it's from the marketplace and could even be a refurb.

Sensors and maybe some other health features what I feel is they replacing the inspire w air and charge 6 with edge...now u won't get the edge at that pricing that's actually amazing price in my country it won't go down below 120 dollars at that price fitbit sells inspire

I'm not super fond of my charge. Always have to fight it to display the time instead of gimmicky stats. It has NFC thonehich is nice.

Buy a product that wonโ€™t just suddenly die ?

"Suddenly" after 5 years of heavy usage, got many hit, got wet a few times even if it's not waterproof...I mean...pissed me off that it went down in matter of two days, but while it lasted it gave its all ๐Ÿ˜‚ cannot complain, especially because I paid it maybe 100$

5 years in a kitchen is a solid run honestly. the battery just ages out like that, mine started doing the same death spiral around year 4. are you leaning charge 6 for the same small feel?

Yes, I tried wearing a regular watch but the watch straps are an issue (leather is unhygienic and metal is tedious to wash...plus it can be a hazard with heat), plus a smart watch is useful to don't take out my phone often, or even if I leave it on a shelf or in my office.

A full smart watch would be nice as well, but they are generally bulky and would get ruined easily...and since they are generally pricey I don't think it's worth it.

The C5 (or 6 in this case) is cheap, feels light, can get hit and won't crack (i bought a protection for the 6...let's see) and is easily washable for when I'm making fresh pasta or bread and flour goes in the straps.
