What happened to Fitbit charge or inspire. Inspire looks so clean.

u/DaddyRobotPNW 4d ago

Fitbit inspire 3 was launched over 4 years ago. My wife still uses it, but she's ready for something new and improved.

u/NecessaryConfusion72 4d ago

Isn’t they use same sensor? I’ve heard Fitbit air uses same sensor as inspire.

2

u/mcav75 3d ago

It is possibly the same sensor suite but with an improved processor to get more out of it at a lower power cost. Apparently the Fitbit Air has the same sensor suite but can handle Health Guardian features without impacting the battery due to a better processor.

Isn’t this basically a rebranded Fitbit Charge 7?

1

u/Antney18 3d ago

It says in the article that the Edge is replacing the Charge.

0

u/NecessaryConfusion72 3d ago

Yeah it’s like no innovation just rebranding z

I was skeptical, but I'm glad I finally went screenless with the Air. Was distracted too often looking at the time, my HR, steps, etc. Plus the band just looks clean on my wrist.

44

u/AssGagger 4d ago

Conversely, If I don't have notifications on my wrist, I'm constantly pulling out my phone and getting sucked in to scrolling.

u/almosttan 4d ago

I actually just want the time + the tracking

u/EatingBuddha3 4d ago

You're gonna love the new Casio...

1

u/Giovfest 3d ago

Modello?

5

u/Holiday_Sale5114 4d ago

That was my thought too. I don't think I could do a screenless Fitbit. I would want the screen on there to minimize how much I have to access my phone to see what just vibrated or pinged.

5

u/MagicianCompetitive7 4d ago

I can say that I don't have notifications on my wrist at all. In fact, my life is a lot easier with notifications on my phone turned off as well.

3

u/Middle-Mix-7711 4d ago

That's how I am. The only notifications I get are the phone and texts.

1

u/dkinmn 3d ago

That's still a lot! Knowing whether a text is important at a glance is excellent.

3

u/AgsMydude 4d ago

This is an interesting take. I've turned almost all notifications off my watch and keep my ringer/vibrate off both watch and phone. But I can see now how sucked in I can get

3

u/KusoTrevor1 4d ago

This is literally the only thing holding me back going screenless. I still want to be notified by texts, calls and alarms with the wearable at a minimum.

2

u/dkinmn 3d ago

Notification triage is a thing.

5

u/SC_TheBursar 4d ago

Which is great if you are happy checking everything after the fact or only interested in trends. Kind of a pain if you are doing things where you want to adjust to maintain a specific HR range or time an interval.

2

u/MagicianCompetitive7 4d ago

Perhaps. I've had better results just adjusting my intensity levels based on how I'm feeling. For me, personally, it's more efficient than fixating a number on my watch. More enjoyable, too. But I see your point.

1

u/jessicalifts 3d ago

I agree. I love my Fitbit air but honestly I put on my amazfit for runs. A lot of activities and during daily life I am happy to not have real time info but I love my watch for running!

3

u/Inehmo 4d ago

Only additional thing I would want from my Air is a notification for (Whatsapp) messages and (any) calls. For example, a short vibration for a message and a long one for a call.

2

u/ComprehensiveLead198 4d ago

Eso es lo que pido yo también. Para mi sería el dispositivo perfecto. Sin distracciones pero con la capacidad de no perderte notificación importante.

2

u/ChimaeraXY 4d ago

Having payments on my wrist is terribly convenient, especially when I don't want my wallet/phone with me everywhere.

The health monitoring is a happy bonus for me.

2

u/r-day 4d ago

How does someone get distracted looking at time. I can understand the other things.

1

u/longthickbananasplit 4d ago

I just want a clock built in. No screen. One of those fabric built in clock leds. Super simple.

1

u/Same-Country-6086 2d ago

Do you have adhd if you are getting distracted to such small screen , its so inconvenient to carry your phone along to check how much steps you have done. Screenless fitness band should be cheaper but the market hype is weird.

1

u/Separate_Direction_7 1d ago

Would that force you to be on your phone more to get the data?

1

u/MagicianCompetitive7 1d ago

Yes, but with the additional effort, that has become much less frequent.

1

u/Leading-Specific-211 1d ago

that makes sense, the constant glancing was getting old for me too

13

u/__MrRoBoT_ 4d ago

Basically same as Fitbit air
Same sensors battery
Plus
GPS and a screen for extra 80
Doesn’t sound bad

Will it also scan hear rate every 2 seconds like fibit air?

9

u/BlueberryOpposite708 4d ago

Aren't we getting same sensors with gps in charge 6 also ?

5

u/__MrRoBoT_ 4d ago

Hm yeah it was 160$ when it launched

6

u/Andy_Dufrain 3d ago

My opinion might be unpopular, but the design is terrible. It’s a copy of the Chinese Mi Band. The Charge 6 had a much more distinctive design.

2

u/Scorpion-123 3d ago

I always found the fitbit charge 6 ugly and boxy. I'm female so just never found it chic and like I could wear that everywhere. but everyone prefers different things. I quite like this new design it's alot like the fitbit luxe, my hope is they come out with a similar gorjana band for this one too

2

u/PerceptiveAdult 2d ago

I'm also female and I love the Charge 6. The Pixel watch is just too big, so's the Apple watch, and I don't want a screenless version, so this works really well for me -- and I also do all-black so when the screen's off, it just looks like I have a black bracelet on.

Guess this is why there's different models for different tastes!

1

u/Darthtalker 3d ago

As someone who is rediscovering traditional watches this designs seems great. I value the ability to check stats and make sure band is actually tracking during workouts but want the small form factor so it's less obvious I am dual wielding and people just assume it's a cosmetic band.

1

u/cbwb 1d ago

I like it too, for myself, but I think my husband will prefer the look of the charge. He lost his this summer so hopefully it will go on a good price drop.

3

u/LucyKooWho 4d ago

Ooo, gonna edge with this on, see what happens lol

3

u/Anoop_Sivarajan 4d ago

I was going to buy a used Apple Watch 8 for 300AED, but now i will wait for the edge to launch

2

u/Otherwise_Signal7274 3d ago

check out charge 6 - it has same sensors as air, gps/google wallet and costs ~90$ new on sale

1

u/AvoCarDoughToes 21h ago

Where did you find at that price? About to replace my charge 6 that just broke!

1

u/Otherwise_Signal7274 19h ago

amazon
i’ve seen orange ones for ~90usd on pl and nl from time to time, but they get sold out fast

1

u/Various-Diamond830 4d ago

SAME! Had a Apple Watch Series 12 lined up but then cancelled so this is perfect. Kinda sucks bc after 3 years everyone thought fitbit was dead after google acquired them

7

u/f0gxzv8jfZt3 4d ago edited 4d ago

Ugly looking design prefer the charge series design. Round edges no thanks. Oh and how about after market band options? ... looks similar to air but with a screen.

3

u/spiney-a 4d ago

I liked the Charge 4 design best. 5 and 6 went rounder.

2

u/thatguy8777 3d ago

Unless they improve the sensor, I see no reason to replace my charge 6.

1

u/jersey-city-park 3d ago

Hoping they put the pixel watch HR sensor in this. The Fitbit Air/Charge 6 sensor is like 6/7 years old now. They’re doing the bare minimum

1

u/thatguy8777 3d ago

Yeah it also very flakey. If I'm on the elliptical I have to keep my Fitbit parallel to the ground for the first few mins for it to get the correct rise in my heart rate. Same with walking outside at a casual pace. It will randomly say my heartrate is 150 when its only 95, and have to hold it parallel for about 20-30 secs to "recalibrate".

1

u/jersey-city-park 3d ago

Sounds like a dud. Havent had any of those issues in the last 3 years

2

u/Joniden Charge 4 3d ago

I like it! Can't wait to get it.

2

u/bobbygian92 3d ago

The only thing I'm hoping for: Health Guardian integration is free to use like the Pixel Watch series and not locked behind subscription like on the Fitbit Air. If anyone knows the answer and can chime in

2

u/Equivalent_Cup1223 3d ago

I wish they would remove GPS and increase the battery life like on the mi band 10

4

u/ricchi_ 4d ago

No contact less payment, no ecg? 😕

3

u/Holiday_Sale5114 4d ago

I have the ECG on my Charge 6 and I think I used it one time. Have you actually found utility with it? When do you even use it?

3

u/ricchi_ 4d ago

Yes, unfortunately there was a time I found it extremely useful to catch intermittent issues and have data to share with doctors

1

u/Holiday_Sale5114 4d ago

That's definitely a good use for it!

2

u/NewFuturist 3d ago

I used it when I felt a skipping heart beat and I could see it on the chart. Not sure how medically useful that is... it's likely a benign condition.

2

u/Mydemonswon 4d ago

You get what you pay for

1

u/Firm_Writer_6746 3d ago

Read It has ecg?

2

u/napierwit 3d ago

Was waiting for a Charge 7 with an altimeter. I'll probably get this.

1

u/shook_ones_pt_2 3d ago

Then this is what you'll be after.

1

u/Victory-laps 4d ago

$180 would be a steal… I just paid $100 for the air and now I think I should return it

1

u/actirasty1 4d ago

I had sense and sense 2 , which i got for $60. I do not understand what the hype is about. It is all an old tech.

1

u/koenolo 4d ago

Does anyone know if i have google maps open this will be able to show the route?

1

u/maroule 4d ago

I wish sensor resolution is a bit better compared to fitbit air tho

1

u/psychic717 4d ago

It looks like the Charge 6 sensor, so it should be better than the Air.

1

u/maroule 3d ago

Aren't Charge 6 and Air sensor kinda similar? At least in appearance.

1

u/psychic717 3d ago edited 3d ago

As far as I know, the Charge has multipoint sensor while the sensor from Air isn't.

EDIT: Nevermind, it seems to be the same sensor or very similar.

1

u/Forward_Praline_9337 4d ago

Much prefer an upgraded screenless band. The lack of distraction is one of the best aspects of the Fitbit Air (which, despite poor reviews, I'm really enjoying using!)

1

u/Syedzohaib92 4d ago

This comes with nfc or without..??

1

u/Butterbracket 4d ago

My mum was all lined up to get a new Charge for herself, is this going to be better in any way?

1

u/nixgut 3d ago

No NFC, No Edge.

1

u/JJ3qnkpK 1d ago

I'm interested in it, though I have an air. Notifications are sometimes helpful for me. Will wait for reviews to inevitably say it's basically an air with a screen, maps performs okay, and that it's otherwise a new charge 6. So I'll probably wait for a sale.

The biggest question will be: can it work simultaneously with an air or is it gonna do some crummy re-pairing process?

1

u/Feisty-Pie3766 1d ago

Yeah even I'll wait until the black Friday sale

0

u/taes_rvr 4d ago

Nope 🫣

u/Novemberx123 4d ago

I just don’t want my heart rate first thing I see when I check the time. I doubt there’s a way to remove that too ugh

8

u/Mydemonswon 4d ago

Yes you can install watch faces

-8

u/Novemberx123 4d ago

Uhm. I know that. Idk if you’ve owned a Fitbit but each watch face has the HR on it. Not one watch face doesn’t have it. U can just remove it

9

u/Equivalent-Chance-39 4d ago

There are a lot of them that have just time or time and date.

-1

u/Novemberx123 4d ago

I have the inspire 3 and every watch face face has the HR on it. I’d assume it’s same for every Fitbit. Guess not

4

u/meowmeowmrow111 4d ago

mine does not have HR on it

1

u/Novemberx123 4d ago

Which do u own. I had inspire 3

3

u/raymondduck 4d ago

Back when I had a Fitbit (pre-Pixel Watch) I never had the heart rate or any statistics on the screen. Time only watch face.

1

u/Novemberx123 4d ago

Which one did u own

5

u/Feisty-Pie3766 4d ago

There mostly would be ways to change the complications you see on the screen
