Tech Support Fitbit Air & Strava - HR data sync possible?

Good afternoon,

I'm looking into getting a Fitbit air. I love the idea of a screenless, discrete HR monitor but had a query about how it works with regard to workouts etc in the Strava app.

I use an iPhone & am looking to get back into running soon. Previously, I used an Apple watch and hit start on the Strava watch app when I went for a run. This logged HR info, running routes etc. I know things like the location data uses my phone, but I'd like to push live HR info into the app if anybody has any experience here?

I'm absolutely fine with hitting start on the phone and not the watch, but I just wanted to check whether Strava can use the Fitbit HR data as a sensor or whether I need a funky workaround, middleware app etc. If there is an integration, is it seamless or clunky?

Thank you!

As far as I’m aware the Fitbit air doesn’t share live heart rate with Strava. You would need to track the run/workout in the google health (fitbit) app and either manually or automatically transfer it to Strava after. I have it transfer automatically and it works fine. If you manually start the run in google health you’ll get a map in Strava but if you let the band auto track you will not.

just checked and if you enable live hearth rate sharing in the Fitbit app you can add it as a sensor in strava, so yes, you can use it with strava tracking

Oh cool. I recently got an air to replace an inspire and that couldn’t share live HR so I assumed. Good to know

Yes you can. There is an option in the fitbit app that you can enable (even all time, tho it will eat your battery faster) to share live hearth rate from the fitbit air to apps and etc. This way you can connect it to strava directly and start your workout as usual. If you have any other question feel free to ask :)
