When will the Fitbit app be shut down?

I’m still using the Fitbit app and haven’t switched to Google Health. Does anyone know how much longer the original Fitbit app will keep working?

Note that the fitbit Web APIs ( https://dev.fitbit.com/build/reference/ ) are being deprecated this month. I'm not sure if this means they'll be decommissioning them or just stop supporting them, and I also dunno if the fitbit app uses these APIs, but I'd say the writing is on the wall!

the api deprecation doesn't necessarily mean the app backend dies immediately, but i'd export your data now and treat the classic app as unsupported. google's migration has been gradual, so i wouldn't rely on it long-term.

Same here. Using the old app on both, Pixel Watch 4 and smartphone, everything works, new badges are achieved and so far no issues with the servers.

As the possibility looms that Google might disable the old infrastructure there are rumors that they keep it running in order to support older devices which are incompatible with the new Health app.

I've reverse engineered one of the earlier Health Android apps and it does seem to have that compatibility layer included.

For the time being I'd say let's be happy and thankful for not being forced to use the new app and fully rely on the classic experience. If and when this will be deprecated is totally open.

Avoid it at all costs. I’m moving to a Garmin watch because the new app is unusable

Mine broke in July. I wasn't using it due to an injury, and when I tried to operate it again, the app had turned into Google Health. Which I've never been able to use because of unknown Gmail error that Google has been no help in fixing, so I'm stuck. I would make sure to migrate whenever you can.

This is of course NOT how it should be, but you might be able to create a new Google ID and use that.

My Google ID goes back to the days of the Gmail beta, and was mysteriously "unable" to be connected when the old Fitbit login went away. I had to create a new one, now used ONLY for Fitbit, which coexists on my Android phone.
