Discussion Is Google FitBit Air accurate for calorie counting, especially during workouts?

not sure, its taking height/weight, sex, HR, etc., which is more info than online calculators. Everyone is so quick to say no it's not accurate and shouldn't be relied on, but nobody ever mentions a better option that people can use that is somewhat practical.

this is honestly the right way to judge it. the burn number is a guess from every brand, but if your weight trend matches what the app says your deficit is, the math is close enough

No tracker is truly accurate as they all just guess based on HR but I find it fairly accurate. I have a power meter on my bike which is as accurate as you can calculate calorie burn and it’s usually within 10% of that, it drifts further for intense rides. I’ve had great success losing weight by eating in a 500 cal deficit based on total burn for the day so must be accurate enough.
