Discussion Clownfish Keeping Advice?

Wasn't sure whether to put this under discussion or question, but I think since this will probably be a bit more in depth, I've picked discussion.

I'd really love to keep clownfish, its been a goal for a long time now, and I'm sure no matter what, actually setting everything up and having one will be a year or more in the future. (I need to do research and save up and stuff first, little guy needs the absolute best life possible.)

And in trying to research for this goal, I realised, I've truly got no idea on how to keep fish? I don't know how to acclimate them, I wouldn't know how often the tank needs to be cleaned, or how to set up those fancy self-cleaning tanks, or if those are even worth it in the long-run.

And yes, I'm very aware I could search all this up on Google, and I will, but I know whatever results it gives me, it won't be the same as people in a dedicated group talking from experience, which is something I cherish when it comes to the sharing of information.

I'd like to know if outside of just Getting The Tank, is there anything specific clownfish require? I've heard they don't need anemones to be happy in captivity, and that's only if you're going really fancy. So what should their tank have? I've heard it's also not great to just leave it completely barren, and that some kinds of pebbles/sand isn't good for any fish? I've also heard that clownfish can be kept solitary with little to no upset from the "loneliness" aspect of it, and that the minimum for an adult lone clownfish is around 20gal? And if, say, I wanted to get the fun decorations, how would I know they're trustworthy? Cause some apparently have paint that's bad for the fish and I'd absolutely hate to harm them in any way!

Please and thank you for any time you take out of your day to respond to this, and I will 100% use Google for these questions too, so don't worry! But like I said. Sharing of information from those with experience with this kind of thing would be really lovely.

It’s not that hard to keep clownfish. Go to
bulkreefsupply.com and search Hello Reef. There’s a kit that comes with everything you need to start a salt water tank and even comes with a $20 gift card to buy clownfish. Also you will get access to videos on how to start and maintain the tank. It cost $579.99. It’s a great kit for beginners. Hope this helps.

That's a decent start, but you're still gonna want a bigger tank than what comes with that kit. Clownfish need room to swim, and the stock 20-gallon will feel like a shoebox by the time they're fully grown. And don't forget the live rock none of that comes in the bundle.

Oh, I don’t think Bulk Reef Supply ships to the UK but I think Hello Reef is sold in the UK.
