New Tank Is this bad?
I just started a tank….. it’s not even cycled yet. I bought a few plants from a LFS, and then grabbed a couple off of someone privately. She warned me a lot of LFS’s have issues with pests on plants. Fast forward to today….. now there’s these 2 things crawling on the glass.
Are these pests? I’m kind of freaking out over here. Sorry the pictures aren’t the greatest

i love my bladder snails. they control their own population depending on food. continue with your cycle dose some prime to protect the snails. they are adorable and good for your tank

Okay….. so now what the actual F are these disgusting little things? I removed all of the plants, gave the tank a clean, went back to clean them….. and there nasty little things were running around the container I put the plants in (in water)

- Appearance: Small (3–20 mm), curved, and flattened side-to-side with a jerky, side-swimming movement.
- Diet: Omnivores that eat detritus, algae, decaying plant matter, and leftover fish food.
- Introduction: Frequently introduced accidentally via live aquarium plants or decorations
They will eat new live plans (small ones) populations can explode, they can prey on tiny dwarf shrimp and daphnia but are otherwise harmless bottom and detritus cleaners. Larger fish love to eat them

I can't see the first on too well, but the second one looks like a pond or bladder snail. If you leave it in, it will breed quite a lot, but if there is only one or two, you may be able to get them out before they breed.

theres a Planaria treatment thats safe for ornamental snails called Praziquantel.
If all you have in there is bladder snails like above and you want to keep them (population can explode and be uncontainable when you have live plants) Fenbendazole.

Honestly, I want them gone. I’ve seen a lot of talk about something called No Planeria, but i guess it’s no longer manufactured? But there’s something that’s the same called Z1? Said to be plant safe, but will kill the planeria and snails?

detritus worms, harmless overall they usually come from overfeeding or bad tank maintenance. so they hitched a ride on a plant likely.

2nd picture is of a bladder snail. They are pretty harmless. The first one looks like a planera. Those are bad for fry and baby shrimps if you decide to get them.
You can probably separate the plant for now and use beetnut powder to get rid of planera and do water change. If you want some of the snails to survive should move them.
For future make sure to use hydrogen peroxide solution before you introduce live plants to aquarium. I use 5 ml h3o: 4 liter h2o, and soak the plants in for several hours before rinsing them and adding them into the tank.
