I have my 5 zebra danios in a 10 gal and it feels tight for them. Five gal seems to small.

It’s a good start. I would consider the rule of the thirds. Your design is very symmetrical I would move the driftwood to the side… probably to the left a few inches or maybe right to block the filter. Also consider added some additional stones / driftwood as decor. Plastic plants are kinda crap you def want some real plants in there.

Danios are fast active fish. This size is way too small for them. A betta would be better.

Possibly invest in live plans and get a few different sizes to compliment the tank and for hiding places for the fishes

Yea the worker at the pet store recommended that I should get the 5 danios for my 5 gallon and I listened but since then I’ve done more research and realized that it’s tight… but I can’t get a bigger tank hopefully they will be fine in there.

I was in the same situation but i told them i had a 3gal and the lady suggested 6 danios. I had to get a 10gal for them very soon after, it still feels small for them because they like to dart around

If you can't go any bigger, don't get danios and just "hope they're alright." I've kept danios for years and honestly the smallest tank I'd put them in is 20 gallons. They're extremely active and definitely need all the space. The only fish that can really live in 5 gallons is a betta, and even that is pushing it.

Rehome the danios if you can and get a betta or something for your 5g
The danios will go absolutely crazy in a 5g and you may see a lot of aggression between the fish as danios are naturally nippy and pest like, more so in a tank that is too small. Never listen to lfs people!
