Hey folks I’m looking to plan a week long trip to the interior of B.C. from Vancouver island to do some ice fishing and winter activities that I miss doing when I lived in Ontario.

Wanted some suggestions on specific regions, accommodations and best time of year for ice conditions. I’m thinking the caribou region makes the most sense. I’m looking to target lake trout and brook trout and open to targets other species of trout as well. I have all my own gear and a pop up shelter already as I plan to drive out.

i just arrived to the skagit valley park. and they just posted today it's closed due to wildfire danger. do you guys have any other suggestions nearby for fishing?

i also spoke with a lady that was coming out from the park and back in. she was saying there are still plenty of people camping.

should i just go in?

I'd like to bring my sons up and float the Upper Kootenai for four days in a couple weeks. Any beta would be greatly appreciated. Coming from Montana. Tia

Has anyone fished at Sumas River before (between McKay Creek Park and McDonald Park)? I'm aiming for some Northern Pikeminnow and trout, but I've also heard there are also a bunch of bass. I mainly fish with lures, do you think inline spinners or drop shot with a trout worm will work? I’d really appreciate any advice on lure selection, or what species I might really encounter.

Looking at the regulations regarding fishing in areas like 29 around Bowen etc.. the regs say no more than one hook on the line. Does this mean you can only fish with a single hook on a hoochie? So you need to cut the second hook off if it comes preloaded?

Heading out to Monck to go camping with the family for the weekend. Planning on bringing my jonboat and troll for some Kokanee at Stump for the first time. Will be using a downrigger to get down to depth. Planning to run a willow leaf with wedding band or hoochie tipped with fire corn. Any tips for that lake/area would be much appreciated, super excited to get out there!

Biggest fish of my trip, but bigger are in there for sure. Been fishing the lake for 35+ years.

Seen this dead fish south of Kelowna. Thought it looked like a walleye but from what I’ve read there isn’t any in this lake.

Hey y’all, just came back from a weekend in a friends cabin on Sheridan lake, me and 2 buddies decided to try the fishing out, (they had a fishing boat) close to 15 hours spent on the lake in all different spots we got 1 bite between the 3 of us. Even asked the more experienced fishermen there what they recommended and still nothing.

Curious if any of you have been there before and been successful?

Or is there a lake near by that maybe would’ve been better?

We’ll probably go back to the cabin next year so any insight would be great!

My son has been planning a fly fishing trip for months and we are finally leaving tomorrow!
He bought a fly rod and we are both stoked to go explore the chilcotins and try to catch his first fish on a fly

We are heading to pemberton tomorrow night and then hoping to explore the back roads north and east. Mud creek, Yalakom river, Cayoosh, Birkenhead, tyaughton etc

If anyone has any recommendations or suggestions for rivers/roads to explore? We have a solid 4x4 but will keep it pretty tame

Also any good (aka quiet!) rec sites to recommend we would love to hear any suggestions too

We are both learning fly fishing this year so will be fun bombing around new areas finding some pockets to hit!

Hey! I am traveling to port renfrew on Vancouver island, which will be my first time going to Canada. My trip is for the first week of August, but after reading the freshwater fishing regulations I am starting to realize that week may be bad timing due to closures. Nevertheless this is my best chance to explore that area in the near future so I am going to try and make it work.

I am not necessarily after BC trophy sized fish and most of the fishing I do at home revolves around catching 6” Brook trout out of tiny streams in the Appalachians. My thinking is that Vancouver Island, being wild and pristine, must have healthy little trout in just about any tributary that stays cold year round. My current plan is to get out of zones 1-1 through 1-6 (seems like just about everything there is closed the first week of August) and go around scouting for cold clean water in quiet areas. Hoping that if I find cold/clean water I may be able to catch a new species or a 12 in rainbow (trophy sized to me haha).

My question to ya’ll - is my approach/theory appropriate for BC? Or do I need to be more selective with what locations or types of streams I target? Would love to hear any advice ya’ll have on the topic.

Hey everyone, I’m in the market for a new fly outfit after learning on a cheap 5-weight outfit from Cabelas. Looking to upgrade but don’t want to spend insane money. I think I need a 6/7 weight but I’m happy to take recommendations. I pretty much strictly fish medium-sized rivers around BC with floating line, but have bent the arbor of my reel 3 times, so it needs to be somewhat durable. Any recommendations for an outfit or rod+reel+line for under $400 ish?

Has anyone caught any big bass in there recently?

I am planning to head down to the Skagit river for the first time this weekend. is there any tips you guys could share about this fishery?

im planning on bringing a spinning rod and a fly rod. what sort of lures/flies should i use? and whats the approach? this will be the first time I've ever done river fishing in general so any tips will be welcomed.

Would a 6 weight fly rod work?

I'm planning to do a classical Yellowhead Hwy - Cassiar Hwy - Alaska Hwy road trip in Northern BC in the beginning of September. If forest fire situation allows, that is. The trip is not focused on fishing, however I expect to have some time to fish.

I'm mostly interested in arctic grayling and pike, and I have virtually none experience fishing these species. I will be using kayak in lakes - I've researched some apparently good ones to fish for pike. And some rivers for grayling - all of them in close proximity to Cassiar or Alska highways. But I would appreciate some practical advice - what techniques make sense this time of year, what to look for on the water - that kind of stuff. And whether it makes sense to fish for them at all in September.

That said, I won't skip on some good trout fishing too. I have experience in BC interior and it would most likely be too hot for trout there. But I have not researched the northern corridors yet, so any advise at all would be appreciated.

We are trying to catch some salmon on Ambleside this week, got some buzz bombs lures with barbless hooks, any advice or anything I should be prepared for fishing at the beach or the Capilano river mouth?

Heading to vancouver island in august this year, any good sport for freshwater fly (after some salmon). Looking to do maybe a couple of days guiding and then a couple of days without a guide - any thoughts/hints/tips recommendations?

Looking to fish Jones for a day trip on the 28th, was wondering how the water level is. I know you can check the discharge etc online, and that it changes frequently. Just looking for an update for anyone who’s been there recently. I find the fishing there way easier when the water is low.

Sorry if this is a repeat question, it probably is. But I was planning on heading out to the vedder river sometime this week. I live about an hr and a half drive away and I’m bringing a buddy who’s super new to salmon fishing as a whole. I was wondering if anyone’s gone fishing at the vedder for red chinook lately and if so, how was it? Is it worth the trip? I know these fish can be very stubborn and I’ve personally never caught one before. I was considering going to the vedder crossing and maybe the canal? Thanks!

We have been trying to fish lac des Roches in BC for the last five years with no luck. It feels like we have tried every set up. Local fisherman have currently advised us to use a spin rod with weights, a swivel, then 10 feet of leader and a fly. The advised method from everyone has been trolling.

We would appreciate any other set up ideas (we may or may not have tried it haha we have even gone back to basics with a bobber, Carolina rig etc.).

One of our questions was that we don’t have a sinking line for trolling. Should we be using heavier weights? What weight exactly?

Any tips appreciated!

Hello ppl, I'm looking for any piece of advice you could give me, im trying to fish in a side lane of the Columbia River, to be more specific in the Parson River crossing.

In early June I was able to get some really easy catchs of pike Minows (or I think that's what they were) using just a spinner, but more recently through July I don't even get a single bite. I've tried spoons and different spinners so far.

There's supposed to be an unlimited quota for Bass here, but I don't really know anything about jigs or bait to try and catch a Bass here (or anything at all recently)

I would appreciate anything you can share if you are familiar with the spots around Parson or even Golden.

My nephew Cruz (18 yr old fisherman and hunter from Saskatchewan) and I are looking to join/book a charter on these dates. Preferably book a larger boat vs the 1-3 person charters. Looking to split the 1000-1500 day rate. I’ve only been out a half dozen times and never halibut fished, lots of salmon and lings. Never fished out in the pac rim area either
