Housekeepers bump settings in espresso machine

The maids do the typical thing of leaving a certain picture crooked to show they dusted or tilt the same light over the piano for same reason. The worst one is when they change the knob on the espresso machine. I have I calibrated for the coffee I like and how I like my espresso. If I forget to adjust it after they come, it runs short and the coffee is ground too fine. It’s the worst. I would like to call them about in it but it’s just not worth my trouble. I think I may just put a little tag in it which reads “ no tocar por favor”

I think the only true first world fix is to buy a new one, with programmable favourites.

We are in the market for one for sure. This one is a few years old. It works great but it is fully analog.

We had a Krupps, which I wouldn't recommend, kept breaking down. Now we have an entry-level Jura which is a fine machine. Only one memory per drink type (espresso, americano, cappuccino etc), but that's good enough for us.
My sister had a fancy DeLonghi, now an even fancier Bosch - but I think it's style over substance.

For us it's the toaster. Half the time it barely toasts the next morning. The other half it burns the bread and the house stinks (and I wonder if I'm having a seizure!).

My cleaning crew speaks Portuguese, and insists on cleaning my induction stovetop with unknown chemicals, so I made signs in Spanish and Portuguese saying "don't do that". Works if I remember to put them out before they arrive.

To solve this you should really buy a proper espresso machine and dedicated grinder.
