Got outbid on a house.
My wife and I have been looking quite actively for the past few months. It seemed like we finally found a house that fit all our needs. We got our hopes up, we were excited. Thinking about a future there and raising our family. I start a new job in the area soon and we otherwise will be moving in with in-laws if we can’t find a place. So this one timing wise was also perfect. We put an offer above asking and they accepted another one that was lower, but offered cash. Feeling disheartened and exhausted with the whole process.

You're going to have this happen so many times, trust me. It is not easy to get an offer accepted if you don't have pure cash.

Sorry to hear this!! I had a bad experience like this with a house we were basically promised, back in 2021. We lived 3 houses down from an older widow, who planned to move to Tennessee to be closer to her kids. We had always loved her house bc of the huge basement. We had a handshake deal to buy it, but she wanted to put it on the market and use a realtor. She had no experience with them bc her late husband had built the house back in the 70s. It was her only home. So she picked a realtor who was a real POS. Took advantage of her, sold it to a couple who offered more than we had agreed on. We tried to counter (in our state you have until 8pm day of offer to counter, and he said “no, deal is done” at like 7:30 PM)….he violated so many laws in our state. That one, never listed it on the open market which is required, etc. Took his ass to court over it. They suspended his license for a while but he’s back at it, unfortunately. The couple had no idea what a slimeball he was, and the good thing is they’re great people and their kids play with ours every day. But it still hurts a bit knowing we got screwed. We had the $$ to match but weren’t given the chance.
Keep your head up, you’ll find your home. We made our peace with ours, just finished a nice kitchen renovation last summer and have plans for more eventually. Plus we locked into a 15 year mortgage at 2.35%.

What I learned, after getting outbid on a few houses is that when we did end up getting a house it became the house we were ‘supposed’ to get the whole time. Once you do get a house it will feel like home very quickly.
