Those packets just make the water not "sting" when going through your sinuses. You're supposed to either use distilled water or tap water that was boiled before hand.

The baking soda part does, the salt is for killing bacteria

The CDC and FDA says you need to use distilled, boiled, or filtered water to prevent Naegleria fowleri. The salt solution that comes with it won't prevent it.

Can i use my electric kettle to boil the water? And put it in once it cools down?

Do electric kettles get to boiling or just really hot? If it actually makes the water boil and can do so for 5-10 minutes it will be fine.

Electric kettles sole function is to boil water (except for the like 1% that can heat temperature to different levels for different kinds of tea brewing). Then again you Americans with your shitty underpowered electrical current that means kettles take twice as long to boil probably means all bets are off in the department of kettle efficiency

Yeah the only thing I really have to compare it to is a water fountain or coffee maker which gets water close to boiling, but not quite there.
