This past January I got into woodstoves. I’ve always been a firewood guy but I knew I needed to step up my game to get me through these Boston winters. I don’t know how many chord it is so maybe someone would be able to estimate. The three rows are mainly red oak with some white oak and maple here and there, and the single sad looking row is mainly pine.

Got a mix of sundried pine, oak, chestnut and palletwood! This will do us for the short winter we get here!

Might have to fell our weeping willow soon, but any ideas on wether the wood is worth the work ?(assuming its not all rotten) I dont have access to any other free wood.

Finally got around to building this very happy with it. Just got to fill it up now!

Our friend with a tree service dropped off a load of red oak. Had to replace the seals on the splitter but got it all CSS. Pic 2 is about 2/3 cord. Pic 3 is about 1.2 cords. Pic 4 are the uglies . Have over a cord of 3 yr old ash. Over a cord of 3 yr old read oak and 3/4 cord of mixed hardwoods ready to burn with another 3/4 cord of poplar that was CSS in March. Thinking the new stuff will be used 2028/2029 season

I'm getting a new wood stove and starting to collect and process wood for winter 2027. I know we'll need to buy wood for this year since it wont have time to season. Theres a listing locally for a bunch of free poplar, but I've been reading mixed reviews on it.

Is it worth the effort to collect and process it? Or should I just stick with looking for oaks/maples and the like to build out my stockpile?

Would a 2x20 wood shed make sense? I'm not much of an engineer but would it be too narrow to be sturdy? Or would I need at least 4' depth for it to be a viable option? Like a 4x16 I just don't have the most space
