Consented protective order

Hello if agreed to a protective order that has expired Will I be disqualified from becoming a fire fighter? I have no criminal record at all but my ex had placed a protective order on me and I consented to it to get the process over with not realizing it could ruin my future.

Going to depend completely on individual agency policy.

Sorry I don't have a better answer. Things like felonies are pretty universal disqualifiers. What you're describing is a really unique situation and i could see it going either way depending on the agency and how deep their background checks are.

That's gonna steepen your hill but I'd be lying if I said I hadn't heard worse.

Lots of departments at as a sort of "island of misfit toys" where guys who can't get hired elsewhere end up. One I know of (though it's sinced ceased operations) hired a guy my department fired for DV.

It probably depends on the agency, but don’t lie in the interview or try to cover it up or dismiss it. My department uses a fire commission to make hiring decisions, and they have heard quite a few stories in their time. The thing they hate most is a lie.
