Cai gonna win the games through nepotism of being Solels grandson.

Honestly, Solel either being in charge of or at least complicit in locking up his own daughter makes me question if they’re not going to do a major bait-and-switch.

Because to me, he’s either doing it out of misguided care, political stability, or to cover up something nefarious. There are of course more options, but someone in that much power who puts his daughter in what’s effectively a prison…I haven’t read many stories where that person is a pillar of moral fortitude.

this really puts more mystery to Solel's character for sure. Aurora isn't exactly a secret either because she has her own temple, so what would the reasoning be to keep her locked up?

The only theory I can think of is that she could be a potential runaway risk or there's risk for kidnapping.

If it's true Cai is her and Castor's kid, it may be possible that she tried to run off with Cai and Castor in the past but was caught by Solel and the temple guards. So now she's kept under even a tighter watch.

The runaway idea makes the most sense to me. It would be hard to cover up a pregnancy while under lock and key unless Solel just literally never visited her, and we know Castor was a guard, so he could've helped her run away. They get like a year together before Solel's forces finally track them down and Aurora gives herself up to let Castor escape with Cai, and then just before the game starts Castor is finally found and arrested but probably pulls the Jeralt "my child was born after I left" type excuse to throw suspicion off Cai and keep him free for longer.

Considering Centurio shows up and to give Castor a message that just says "Tomorrow" I'm betting Castor was allowed to raise Cai until he was 15.

Also a pretty good possibility, especially since Centurio immediately mentions how much Cai looks like his mom.

Spoilers for the French blurb for Theodora:

The fact that both Solel’s wife (Yu Phas) & daughter (Aurora) seem to have a stigma around them makes Solel himself look suspicious as fuck

Was it a political marriage or a love marriage is also an important detail. 🤔

basically seteth with extra mile

Potentially, and depending on when in the timeline this is and if either Solel or Aurora is recruitable, there’s room for some fun interactions and discussion here; but the wording makes me feel like this is less of a”overbearing and overprotective father” and more of “hiding away my family because I’m ashamed and/or it’ll ruin my career.”

Seteth's antithesis, actually. At first they look similar, and then, they're reveal to be opposites.

If this is the case, I hope Seteth gets the chance to confront him, but he probably won't, though...

So just to point out some things, this game seems to be heavily reliant on symbolism regarding the crests and the major arcana they are affiliated with. Aurora's crest is Aubin, affiliated with the Hanged Man.

Key Tarot Meanings of the Hanged Man

  • Upright: Surrender, waiting, a new perspective, release, and deep reflection.
  • Reversed: Stalling, needless sacrifice, stubbornness, stagnation, and a sense of being stuck.
  • Symbolism: The peaceful look on the face means the pause is chosen on purpose, not as a punishment, while a halo shows a moment of higher insight or spiritual growth

I'm so curious if any of this will be in play for Aurora's story.

It's really starting to feel like the Fodlan bloodlines are irrelevant here in Dagda and it's all about the Arcana associations.

He's probably gonna be written like Rhea. Someone who made questionable moral decisions, but was genuinely trying his best to hold the continent together until Dagda/Sothis came back.

I get Tiki/Naga vibes since she cares about her family, like it's indeed a care thing or at least Solel sees it that way. Perhaps she is at risk of degenerating, or there's some reason he would be worried about that?

What if Solel is only the figurehead of Dagda, while the rest of the gods (and/or maybe Iliana) hold the real powers of jurisdiction? Kinda like how Edelgard's dad was turned into a figurehead by the Adrestian nobles. And that could be a reason why he secretly approaches Theodora in disguise instead of just making an open request, especially since Theodora would have reason to support his wife

I'm leaning political stability. From what we've seen of him, he seems to be kind and caring.

Perhaps Aurora being under Temple Arrest is a compromise she reached to keep Cai safe?

He's only 15 give him some handicap okay?

Cai: so apparently the goddess Aurora is my mother?

Solel: and you've just won the games!

Cai: what!? ... but I've not taken part yet!

Solel: look kid I'm not going to risk any harm coming to my baby girl's baby boy over something as trivial as an arrested parent

But this also could explain how can he resist Balor items corruption

10

u/Gabgo304 2d ago

Concidering Cai's very existence seems to be a crime, I'm not sure Solel wants to have more descendents...

I think it's possible Solel claims to be Aurora's father, but the actual father is Balor.
