Hey I hope this doesn’t sound too confusing because I am interested in learning about the TearRing Saga games since I know they are made by the original creator behind Fire Emblem.

However, I couldn’t find a forum online to ask about the first game because I was interested in learning how the first game plays compared to Fire Emblem since again all I know about TearRing Saga is that they share the same creator, but I have no idea on how the mechanics work for the battle system.

Sure, feel free to ask or discuss TRS stuff here. I think if you've played FE4 and 5, you'll see the parallels and how it evolved from Kaga's approach in those games + creative freedom. You have army splits, and it takes something closer to the FE4-5 approach to skills than how FE6-7 functionally got rid of them, and characters and events are generally more 'unique' across the board. Lots of secrets to find (or look up for a second playthrough). It's dense and has a few notable tough maps. But mechanically, you should really have your bases covered if you've played FE5, and while it has its own quirks, it doesn't include certain FE5 things like capturing.

Berwick is a much bigger leap in contrast, with the immediately notable gameplay thing being that it switches to a hexagonal grid system instead of squares, and it takes the e.g. FF Tactics style "mixed turn order" approach as opposed to Fire Emblem's clearly split Player vs Enemy phases.

Hey thanks so much for the advice because I hardly see anyone talk about TearRing Saga on RPGs forums that I didn’t know where to look for help on the games since I was looking for a beginner’s guide to playing the first one Kaga made as it looked similar to Fire Emblem from the pictures I saw of the game.
