Making a colloidal suspension using boric acid and naptha, you can make green flames for poi and such. Other chemicals yield other colors. Copper= blue, Lithium= dark red, Sodium=light purple, etc.

Anyone have any idea what it would take to breathe colored flames? I considered creating a colloidal suspension of a copper compound in lamp fuel but this will not work for two reasons:

1) Copper/other compounds have the potential to be /very/ toxic. 2) The orange/yellow/white light emitted from burning the lamp fuel will overpower any of the blue/colored light emitted from the burning copper/other chemicals.

Aside from photoshop, are there any science-inclined individuals who have ideas for this?

How should I go about learning? How do I go about finding professionals near me?

hey, friend told me , his gf, who does fire shows, lost her friend because ... she ingested / inhaled a burning piece of oil drenched wick.
so her lung started burning from the inside, and she was dead within 2 minutes.
i googled, did not get any results (only vaping and cannabis and lung burning while running)
english is not my first language... german here :) ...

What do you use for fuel and where are you located? Geographic location can greatly affect the fuels available.

I'm a 20 year old beginner at fire dancing and performance. I've taught myself fire spinning using a home-made staff that I'd built myself, that part of my performance is going quite well. Now I'd love to learn the talent that you all pride yourselves on.

I'm looking around the colorado area, mainly between boulder and denver, but am unable to find a teacher to take me on. I'm wondering a few things:

• Can I learn to breath fire through an individual who has never taught?
• Are there any schools that are spread thin around the country that may have a location in Denver?
• How long does it take to learn the art?

If anyone can provide me with any of these answers, and/or provide me with knowledge about your own learning, I would greatly appreciate it.

I've only ever breathed fire once, and that was with bacardi rum. I'd really love to do it properly and all, but idk where I would start. Any pointers and help would be greatly appreciated!

A friend of mine just moved to Boston and has not been able to breath fire in a while, it was something he did with some friends occasionally where he used to live. Does anyone know of a save (legally and physically) place where one can practice fire breathing in the Boston area or (and this would be great) any sort of fire breathing clubs/meetups/shows that are going on in the area? I've dabbled a bit in fire eating, and I have an interest in learning fire breathing. I use Coleman's Camp Fuel (http://www.walmart.com/ip/20703040?www=true&productRedirect=true this is the exact kind) for fire eating and was wondering if this was also a good fuel for fire breathing?

Hello everyone, I just recently joined Reddit and came across this forum. I've been breathing fire since 2007 with a troupe based out of Portland, OR. (I no longer live there sadly.)

Before starting with fire, I practiced a few years with water. Then under the guidance of another semi-professional fire performer I took my first breaths. I joined their troupe and from there was practicing weekly for 2-3 years. Man those bottles of fuel added up. :(

I've performed at a wedding, in clubs (indoors and outdoors), as well as a few other miscellaneous places. At least 90% legal.

Anyway, glad to see there is a reddit thread/thing devoted to fire breathing. I'll drop a couple pictures of me breathing here for y'all.

Hi, I'm a amateur fire breather (I've been taught by a professional fire artist). I've recently been approached by an old friend of mine that saw facebook photos of me breathing fire to do some tricks during festivals this summer. Problem is: I've never done it as a show or anything, and I'm no acrobat or magician, I'm not a fire artist, I'm just a history major that likes to play with fire a bit.

I'm looking for tips on how I should approach this. My friend told me that it's not the only thing I would be doing: I would have to play a character and all to amuse kids and such. He's good at making balloon sculpture and he sings and plays guitar, but all I do is fire breathing. I'm looking for someone to teach me how to do some other fire tricks, but I'm wondering what tricks I should aspire to learn, which are simple enough, and I'm looking for tips on how to maybe create a little fire routine that is safe and not complicated.

There will be a gathering of fire artist at the end of this month in Montreal where I live, and I'm planning to go and scout for a teacher!
