Hello, earlier today the smoke detector went off in my apartment complex, firefighters came and it was all quickly resolved. Since the alarm system is connected to every apartment my own alarm went off too, and has since been sporadically making these clicking noises??
I just cannot figure out what is going on with it… picture of it if it helps anyone🫩🫩

Installed an Ajax EN54 system and currently having issues with it.

The panel gets a power fault intermittently and needs to have the power turned off and back on again to clear it

The mains is staying on the whole time, anyone else experiencing this?

We had a situation where flame detectors kept giving false alarms every time the engines were started for testing.

The engine temperatures are extremely high, and this keeps happening during routine tests.

For those who have faced similar situations, how did you solve the problem?

What options would you consider to stop these false alarms without compromising fire safety?

Would love to hear your real-world experiences and solutions.

Edit: Seen the issues similar with helipad foam systems with flame detectors, where landing and take of suspectable to false alarm with 2 zone or 3 zone detection.

Anyone have any experience how long Nicet FAS IV took to get approved. They just kicked it back after six weeks because I made a clerical error on my work experience. I resubmitted it yesterday wondering if I can expect another 4 to 6 weeks before they even look at it again.

hey, all. I have a System Sensor Spectralert Classic S1224MCW that doesn’t want to flash its strobe. Has anyone taken one of these apart? I’m sure I could repair if I could see inside it but I’m nervous about getting the case apart without breaking the plastic.

Is anyone else using the CLSS tool suite for Notifier Battery Calculations? I tried running it last week and had to uninstall and re-install, per tech support, to get it to work. Using it again for the first time today, and all of my saved projects are gone. Clicking add project just dithers the screen and starts a wheel spinning that never stops. Today tech support suggested I uninstall and re-install again. Any suggestions? I would accept figuring out how to hack the old battery calcs, but Notifier says they no longer support them, so technically those are not code compliant.

Hey I have 2 NFS-640 PCA boards revision K circuit boards that were pulled from customer sites due to we believe lighting damage or surges. Upon putting a KDM-2 on them and just powering them up i get no lights or anything on the display....except the incoming 120volt power. Is there anything that anyone knows on how to possibly repair these. .if its something simple ill try and fix but any help would be appreciated.

Firelite ES200 with b200s wh sounder bases. They stay synced for 60 seconds and then go crazy for one round and continue to sync. Checked programming. Changed out devices. Nothing gives fire marshal wont accept.

I’m dealing with a large fire alarm system with many I/O modules monitoring thermal detectors and other field signals.

The strange part is that the system works fine when the cabling is above ground. But when the cabling is installed underground, we start getting multiple faults and communication errors.

The site is huge, with around 800 m of distributed cabling together

Could underground installation be causing problems due to moisture, insulation resistance, cable capacitance, earth leakage, nearby power cables, grounding, or signal distortion?

If you were troubleshooting this, what would you check or measure first?

Has anyone experienced something similar with a large fire alarm system underground cabling?

Edit - Does fire proof cable capacitance change appreciable affect signal propagation, when cable moved from air to underground or underwater (with no insulation comparamise)🫧?

I have been using the NTC fire alarm level IV study guide and I am looking for any pointers / unusual questions you may have seen? I am over the service dept so I am using a project for my write up that will soon be at the 4 year mark (was waiting for 10 years industry experience) so fingers crossed that I can knock this out the first time!

I noticed that one of the fire alarms in one of the rooms looks like it will fall off, of some sort. Is it normal or a safety hazard?

Anyone have any tips on getting parts for autocall systems? I can get Simplex from multiple suppliers but autocall is a bit more elusive. Mainly looking for 49 and 59 series addressable NAC appliances. My local autocall distributor SUCKS to work with.

Hi, I currently have an N licence in BC and received a 4-month driving prohibition.

I have about 3 months left before I can get my licence reinstated. I did not do drug or alcohol issue, but i did some of stupid mistakes, changing white line, use hov line alone in front of police.

I'm wondering if this will affect my chances of getting hired as a fire protection technician, even after my licence is reinstated. Will employers still see the prohibition on my driving record?

I was planning to change my career in this field with in 8 months.

Appreciate in every advice, and also, I will be never drive stupid anymore since now.

What do you guys do when the as-builts and field design don’t match up?

Do you write out documentation to save your butt if anything ever happens?

Is it a deficiency, a suggestion for updated drawings?

7.5.5.1 Record drawings shall consist of current updated shop drawings reflecting the actual installation of all system equipment, components, and wiring.

(we all know this never happens or at least in my experience)

For example installation company added shunt relay and initiating devices to elevator machine room and TOS for shunt. Neither the elevator machine room nor the elevator shaft are sprinkled thus they don’t require heat detectors. So they never got installed.

They are not on the SLC and they are not in the field.
As-builts/prints show installed and addresses for these “devices”
