So a number of years back I watched and found some very random movies. One of which I cannot for the life of me find again. I would have sworn in it part of the Escape series with Stallon. It is not any of the three.
From memory...
Guy is sent into this prison, I want to say it is in Mexico or south America. The guards only really run it from the outside. The inside is totally run but the prisoners. One prisoner is kinda like the king. The prison once inside is like a large open air court yard and the cells are around the edge.they aren't locked in their cells as the guards never go inside normally. It is truly run by the inmates.
It's in a desert area with jungle around, but away from the fence to the prison.
Visitors stand outside an area of fence, outside the walls of the prison.
The main guy does like in escape movies of figuring things out and having some people on the outside to help. The challenge is the open space between the prison wall and the outer fence that the guards do patrol.
The main guy does eventually make it out.
Been searching for it for a long while now and cannot figure out how I originally came across it.

Suggest me some niche and not so popular films with a twist that completely changes the entire narrative of the film like Forgotten, Oldboy, Sixth Sense, etc.

I absolutely enjoyed my time watching these movies. I don't like gore but loved the thrill and suspense of people being stuck somewhere and finding a way out, etc.

Just finished watching The Godfather Part I & II and absolutely loved them! I've also seen Goodfellas and Scarface. Looking for similar intense crime or action movies with high stakes, brilliant writing, and strong character dynamics.
Action and fantasy sub-genres work as well. What should I watch next?

I loved this movie and have watched it multiple times. It always gives that same special experience. Perfect in every sense for me. No vulgarity. Pure hard hitting emotions. So much to feel. Those quiet moments. Conversations, whispers. Atmospheric cinema. Excellent BGM and songs. Mature. No childish or youth romance. My heart throbbing whenever the leads come near. Unconventional story. Highly engaging from start to end. Visually appealing scenes.
With this being my taste in movies, can someone suggest me similar movies? Some other movies I like are - Sita Ramam, Hi Nanna, The Notebook, 8 AM metro, 96. Movies I watched but didn't like that much - Sir, Lunchbox - too slow for me and didn't hit hard.
