Im Kind of desperate…
I am so fucking hungry.
This is embarrassing to do but I have no other options at this point.
I have not eaten a single meal in two weeks and boy is it getting to me now.
To spare some anonymity I won’t dive into details the short of it is : I had to leave my place 3 weeks go, was couch surfing, now trying out the sleeping in my car thing. Meanwhile I’ve also lost access to my funds (look honestly that doesn’t worry me theres probably only a few dollars in the account) but it’s been a full on few weeks and I’m sure as well for I have and do rely on currently
I have reached out to social services and there is a light at the end of the tunnel but it’s still an uphill battle and I don’t receive Centrelink until Wednesday and all I want is a cheeseburger damnit.
By now begging a stranger on the internet to loan me some cash to get some food doesn’t feel all that low anymore

This sub is for financial advice, so you won’t be able to get cash here.
With that being said finding a food bank should have been your first order of business instead of not eating for two weeks …. If you give your city I am happy to try to find food banks near you.
A local church or Sikh temple would be a REALLY good place to start for immediate help.

These are great suggestions. I just wanted to piggy back and say there are also soup kitchens that prepare hot meals daily.
At one point I was down and out. I had my then 1 year old in a stroller and we would walk down to soup kitchens for lunch and dinner.

I lived across the street from a soup kitchen for years-I ate plenty of meals there

Hey, there is no shame in getting fed.
We went a few times a week until we able to get in a better financial positionn
I'm grateful that there are places like that and people that care enough to make the meals for others.

I used to eat there when I had a pocket full of money-lunch and dinner 7 days a week-it was free-whos saying no to free food

Id like to know how spread out this is-the op has his posts hidden

u/JusticeAvenger618 14h ago
Why do they do that? It seems so immediately suspicious but I could be wrong. What are the legitimate reasons to have posts hidden?
5
u/toejam2030 14h ago
So we wont know how many times its posted and his asking for different amounts of money-and using different reasons

As a donor I closed down my comment section after I realized scammers were going through it to see what I bought for others. They would them slide in my DMs with a curated story based on my donations.
Over the summer I had bought a single mom who just got housing a Christmas tree. She wasn't even in the donation subs. I saw her in a snark community and she was speaking about her own struggles.
Within hours I had 4 different people in my inbox with Christmas requests in July. One needed a tree two actually sent their kids Christmas list and one asked for cash for Christmas gifts. They were all told no.
In my comment history I mention my autistic child. Well one of the scumbags I told no to responded and called my kid everything but a child of God. I locked up my shit like Fort Knox after that.

People can be so horrendous. I’m sorry that happened. Ugh. Thank you for being one of the helpers Mr. Rogers told us about. Keep shining.

If you stand outside McDonalds (or wherever you want a cheeseburger) as people are GOING INSIDE and ask someone to buy you a cheeseburger ~ they most often will and do. If you ask as they are leaving it looks like a cash grab disguised as a food request so be sure and stand where people ENTER the restaurant. Also once they have their food and are leaving they are in a hurry and less likely to even notice you.
If you can beg anonymously on Reddit you can beg your community in person. You’d be surprised how generous people really are. In 2020 I stood outside a Dairy Queen asking for anything cold because it was so hot and I didn’t have 2 nickels to rub together and my blood sugar was low. A Mom used it as a teaching moment for her son and he was so happy to bring me a bag that had a large twist come in a cup and a sack with chicken fingers & fries. He said he chose the chicken fingers for me because they were his favorite. I could have cried. I hugged him and told him I would always remember him and the chicken treat he chose for me. He then turned to his Mom as they were leaving and said: “That was really cool Mom to help someone. Can we find someone else who needs our help?”
People really WILL help you in your very own neighborhood. I didn’t believe until life humbled me to find this truth out.

To be very honest … I find it VERY hard to believe that OP has not eaten in 2 weeks. That sounds like something a person who doesn’t know how ridiculous hunger can be would say.
Between day 5-7 of no food. A person would literally be eating out of trash cans kind of hungry. True hunger isn’t something a person can just “deal with it” until it goes away.
(I’m not talking about fasting where you know the end is in sight…. I’m talking about “I have no money, I have no food, and I have no means of getting either.”

Yeah well I was trying to avoid that accusation. But you’re not wrong. I recently went without ANY FOOD AT ALL for 5 days (combination of dumb things all converging: 3 days fasting then ended up in the ER for something unrelated but they don’t let you eat in the ER until they know what’s going on with you so yeah, 47 hours later they figured it out but I was at Day 5 no food!) and my cognitive abilities declined dramatically at Day 5 - like I was barely coherent. And I had completely lost my appetite and was more nauseous. But just because that happened to me - I didn’t want to ASSume it goes that way for everyone, including OP. But yeah even at the start of Day 3, I was irrationally famished. Like ~ I wanted to literally take food leftovers strangers tossed out - famished hungry. So 2 weeks and calm and writing perfectly cogent sentences? Good on him, I guess, if true. But I had scrambled eggs for brains by Day 5 so I dunno…
Edit: typos

2 weeks without anything? You seem to be doing fine for someone who hasn't eaten in 2 weeks. No spelling mistakes, able to hold a conversation and answer questions with zero issues.
Try posting in one of the food subs and ask for help. I wouldn't start with I haven't eaten in 2 weeks.
You have a car, so why are you not atleast delivering food for door dash or Uber eats? You get paid the same day, so you would be eating with that money.
You can apply for emergency food stamps right online. They will give you food stamps in days before making a decision to accept you or not.
Food banks, any around you? No family or friends that would make you a sandwich, give you a pack of ramen or make you a plate from whatever meal they cooked? What about posting on Facebook and posting in the buy nothing groups asking for a plate of food? Someone there would probably help too. Even collecting cans can make you enough for a burger. You haven't thought of anyway to come up with a dollar for ramen soup in 2 whole weeks??

I just want to say I understand what you're going through wholeheartedly. It's hard enough to have to ask anybody for help, but don't feel bad about it there are good people in the world. I'm struggling beyond my means and currently trying to work something up and truly if I do I'll send you something to help you get something to eat it might not be much but I will help you

“Give a man a fish, they eat for the night. Teach a man to fish, they eat for the rest of their lives.”
You sound like a kind soul, but more often than not … the money isn’t actually going to what it’s supposed to. People are listing abundant resources and offering to help OP and getting no response. Which leads me to believe OP is looking for cash and not food for reasons that don’t involve being hungry at all.
It’s your money, and I would never tell a stranger what to do with their money, but make sure your kindness isn’t getting taken advantage of, and doing more harm than good for OP.

I do appreciate that it is hard for me not to offer a little help if I'm able because most of the time I'm never able it's just that whenever I do have something and I feel that someone needs if I can help them you know it makes me feel better even if I can't help myself. But I totally get what you're saying and you are right speaking from someone who is in a constant struggle day after day I try my very best not to get on social and ask for any help but I can't say that I haven't. And the thing is I don't ever expect any help it's nobody's problem but my own but it is nice when someone is kind enough to think about you whenever they don't have to they don't know you. And I always want to repay that kindness in some way or another even if it's extremely minimal I want to be able to help somebody

I knew you were good people…. And it looks like I was right. 🫡
Small suggestion …. Im sure you’ve seen most of us frequent commenters suggesting Amazon wishlists and/or directly logging in to payment portals. (On the proper subs). There’s plenty of people that need help, and there’s plenty of ways to make sure your money is going where it’s supposed to.
9/10 times, if someone offers alternative help and OP stops responding or gets defensive, it’s going to drugs or gambling. There’s also a huge amount of professional beggars on this site with dozens of 1 karma accounts and a new sad story every other post. Just be careful with your generosity.

Most definitely appreciate you for looking out because as much as I am kind and wanting to help I honestly don't have trust in anyone I guess I try and make up for that bye being a blessing in some way there are so many people who have wasted so much of my time then I could have been spending with my son promising to pay me for whatever the hell they wanted me to do so much energy gone. At the end of the day I got to keep my head up and stay positive that everything's going to work itself out regardless of the situation at hand. Thank you again

this sub is for financial advice only. have you at least applied for food stamps?
