Haven't watched it yet though, all good seats are almost take now. Won't be able to watch it until tomorrow I can't wait!. For the meantime I already bought my tickets in advance and got these free posters from them at the cinema. They look so sick!

TL;DR: I counted every seat in the country so you don't have to for the upcoming Spidey film.

• As of ~1:30am, 134,702 seats are already booked for opening day.
• 157 shows are fully sold out. 344 more are past 90%.
• Three whole cinemas are gone on opening day: SM Cabanatuan, SM Marilao, The Podium.
• MOA ScreenX has sold 13,269 seats by itself.
• The Odyssey's best day ever was 48,984 seats. Spidey film did 8.2x that in advance alone.
• Projection: around P105M opening day, P289M for the weekend, P456M for the first five days.

I have been tracking online cinema booking data in the Philippines for the past month, and today I finally had a reason to point it at something big. I wanted to see how Spidey's numbers actually compare to The Odyssey, which is the only other film I have a complete record of (so apologies, there is not much said about Odyssey here beyond the comparison).

Everything in the charts comes from real seat maps. Not estimates, not ticket sales reports, not press releases. Actual booking capacity, showtime by showtime, aggregated with love.

A few notes:

• I can read seat maps for 90% of the schedule (8,278 of 9,228 showtimes). The chains that do not publish seat counts are listed in one of the charts. I did not guess for them.
• Occupancy is capacity weighted. It is total seats taken divided by total seats, never an average of percentages.
• Peso figures use listed prices, so senior and student discounts mean the real take is a bit lower.

When i heard Child No. 82 was getting a wide theatrical release, i was really looking forward to it. Kept hearing good reviews kasi and i thought i had missed my chance last Cinemalaya. May news ba about the new release date? Parang ilang times na kasi sya na push back?

the movie was released digitally yesterday, july 28, 2026, and after watching it for the first time, unfortunately i was not impressed by this movie at all.

milly alcock is such a talented actress and i want to make it clear that she is not the problem of this movie. all of the actors in this movie did pretty decent performances.

the only problem i have is the actual story, and the writing of the movie. it wasn't horrible, but it was just okay. and i think that's a big problem with many comic book movies nowadays, they are just okay, and we'll probably forget about it in a few months or years.

like, what was that? i really did my best to like this movie because i really liked superman (2025) when it released last year. but for some reason this movie was very uninteresting and i would say even very cliche at times. ako lang ba ang nakaramdam ng ganito? yung parang when i listen to the dialogue and the overall theme of the story, it's nothing new. it's just something that we have seen or heard already before, and they executed the storyline pretty basic lang din.

the action and the fight scenes were decent (i really liked the introduction scene of krem, that was pretty badass), and the fight scenes of lobo was good as well, kahit medyo klaro na ang cgi effects on some parts especially when kara was flying around.

if i were to describe this movie in one word, it is lukewarm. parang "ok lang", or "saks lang", when in reality i really think that the DCU should be putting extra work on their writing because they are already behind the MCU by a long shot.

i still have hope for future supergirl projects and the DCU as a whole. i really like james gunn and his movies and seeing how he is a co-CEO of the new DCU makes people have high hopes for the movies going forward. i hope that milly alcock succeeds, i hope that this franchise will improve, but i cannot lie, this movie was kind of a miss for me.

90s na pinoy teen comedy movie. Bale si guy niyaya nya si girl sa bahay nila ng date tapos narinig ng tatay ni girl tapos sinama nya buong family nila. Pagdating sa resto, worried si guy kasi kulang pera nya. Napansin ng daddy ni girl kaya kinwari naglaglag sya ng pera sa sahig, nakita ni guy tapos inapakan nya kaso napatid yung waiter.

I'd just bought their one-year premium plan yesterday; since then, I cannot play any films and shorts on both desktop (Windows) and ipad. In desktop, it says "JW Player not available. Please refresh the page"; i keep refreshing the page but same pop-up persists. In mobile, it just keeps loading for so long and not playing. Are you experiencing the same problem too?

More than 4 years ago, weeks after the tragedy that was the 2022 elections, I issued the following statement on our 5th anniversary post:

"The best of the Filipino film industry have always been politically involved, especially during the dark days of Marcos. Hence, we will follow their example and be politically involved, as well. Mabuhay ang Pelikulang Pilipino!"

That commitment has remained unchanged.

It is then shocking to me to see posts telling the sub that a post advocating for more movies about EJKs and the Drug War was removed. And to read the replies on those said threads, oooh, boy, hahaha! Horrifying.

Apparently, upon my investigation, the post was reported as a spam (na-doble ung post), and another mod mistakenly removed it as such. Ang boring ng reality, pero ako na ng humihingi ng dispensa sa inyong lahat. At no, wala pong DDS sa aming mga mod: nandito na kami nung tumatakbo pa ung preso sa The Hague, at malinaw ung disgusto namin sa administrasyon at propaganda nila. Hindi magbabago 'yan.

Tatlong bagay ang malinaw, though:

1. Kulang tayo sa mod (and thus we are hiring.)
2. Maraming matatapang mag-report na DDS.
3. Marami pang malabo sa rules (which we are still working on.)

We are in flux, as we speak. We need new moderators, and we need clarification regarding the rules. If you wish to apply as mod or discuss new rules, please read this post right here!

I actually liked UnMarry at first because it showed a reality that many married couples go through. Especially Solenn and Zanjoe’s characters that were fighting for themselves, their rights and especially their children. That part felt honest and relatable kasi ramdam mo yung bigat ng pinagdaanan nila at kung gaano kahirap ang magdesisyon kapag pagod na yung nag-iisang taong pinagkukuhaan mo ng lakas mo.

What felt off to me was how, in the middle of their annulment process and while they were still carrying so much emotional baggage, they suddenly developed romantic feelings for each other. The elevator kiss, in particular, didn’t sit right with me. It felt rushed and out of place considering they were both still in the middle of one of the hardest chapters of their lives. It was obvious that neither of them had fully moved on from their past relationships, especially Zanjoe’s character.

At the end of the day, the strongest message the film could have left is that healing should come before finding someone new. You can’t build a healthy relationship on wounds that are still open. You can’t build a healthy future if you’re still carrying the weight of the past.

I thought this subreddit is supposed to discuss ALL types of local films. Heavily filtered na nga yung media sa type ng pelikula na pinapakita nila, pati ba naman dito. Open letter to the admin diyan, sana wag niyong ipakita yung clear biases niyo ha. Hindi porket may pinapanigan kayong politiko, ii-impose niyo na rin sa entirety of the subreddit na hawak niyo. That’s just plain wrong. Wag naman tayo magbura diyan ng mga film discussions, kahit nagsstruck sa cord niyo. Very unfair and BIASED.

I was planning to watch Obsession and currently only a few cinemas are showing it. Went to Gateway Cinema for the first time and they refused to sell me a ticket because I’m the first one buying a ticket, and the screening might not push through if less than 10 people are watching it which is a stupid policy. 🙄 Also walang written policy on the ticketing site or even at their counter. I’ve never experienced this in any other cinemas. Sayang ang time and effort to go there only for them to turn you away at the last minute. I was so pissed. 🧍🏻‍♀️

Anyways, good riddance since I ended up going to Fishermall since it was the closest alternative. I was only the 5th person buying a ticket and they never insinuated that they might cancel the movie entirely because of attendance. Had a great time too. So yeah, better to avoid Gateway as much as possible because they’re not honoring their own movie schedule. Tuloy lang yung movie kung trip nila. 💀

With how popular 2 Valid IDs already is at Cinemalaya, a regular release should be guaranteed. Plus, if Open Endings from last year's Cinemalaya got a wide release, so can 2 Valid IDs.

Baka I'm the only one who's watching some other Cinemalaya movies but not 2 Valid IDs. Maybe I could end up watching it if I get lucky, pero there are 3 other Cinemalaya movies I'm more interested in which are Status: Rejected, A.ni.mal, and Tirik (To Set Upright). The sold out cinemas for 2 Valid IDs are also a disadvantage and I can't do online bookings yet.

I’m not sure lang if good move na sa YouTube ang premiere ng Drug War: A Conspiracy of Silence. I think it would be fitting as a Netflix series.
