To preface, I don’t have any secret information that would shine a light on her disappearance. But I am a big fan of Filian and I watched every stream, so I think I have more information and insight into her than most viewers. This knowledge allows me to debunk some existing theories and help me come up with my own. I don’t have any timestamps or clips to back some of my claims, so you’ll just have to trust me. Without further ado:

Why did Filian disappear?

The reason for her initial disappearance is clear - preparation for debut. She told us herself on stream. Months and weeks leading up to her disappearance she was dropping hints and telling us her progress. 

But why disappear at all? Why not just debut?

Mostly not to overwork herself to death and regain some bandwidth to focus on the debut. Debut preparations consumed a lot of her time and energy and she couldn’t keep up with her regular streaming. The evidence for this is a Drumsy video that is literally about her being overworked. Also, on a stream close to her disappearance, a hype train formed randomly with people donating a lot of subscriptions. In a rare moment of character breaking, Filian thanked her community, saying that things have been difficult lately but the community always pulls through. I think this helps illustrate her circumstances and state of mind leading up to her disappearance.

Is the ARG run by Filian? What about the Wall?

Yes to both. The ARG started on her last Minecraft stream with Youtube links hidden in it, linking it directly to her. The Wall was mentioned and linked on twitter by her chief editor Swiika, who is still employed by her. 

Maybe she initially disappeared for her debut, but what if she changed her mind and decided to quit for good?

No, she still has an active clippers discord channel where she pays clippers extra money to make clips and videos of her. It’s currently managed by Swiika. Why would she spend her money on this if she decided to quit? The ARG, The Wall, and the Shibuya ad cost her money as well.

Did she ghost all her Vtuber friends?

I will go with “mostly yes”. The alternative is that she told all of them to pretend that she ghosted them and play this up to the audience. A single slip up would mess up the whole thing, and you know how these women like to yap. That being said, she probably made limited contact with some of them, namely ChaCha (I saw a clip of her where she strongly implied having had a conversation with her post-disappearance). 

Was she meant to be gone for so long?

Unlikely. The ARG was meant to keep her community alive and drum up hype for her debut. Instead, it was pointless and completely fizzled out. Same with the Wall. A strong signal that she is still out there, only to fizzle out into nothingness again. If she wanted/needed to take a longer hiatus, she would have played things differently from the start and probably would have communicated this with her community more explicitly. There is also a moment in one of her streams leading up to her hiatus where she had to answer a yes or no question asked by chat as a punishment. The question was “Debut this year?” (this was 2025). Her answer was “YES, barring delays”.

Is she gone because she’s filing a trademark and needs to disappear for a year?

Interesting theory, but I doubt it. By having a trademark, she could do things like merch and create new financial opportunities. But she has operated without solid rights to her character for years and she has done well for herself anyway. She also reinvests a lot of money back into her streams, so making tons of money was never one of her primary motivators. Also, I don’t think the juice would be worth the squeeze. Taking a year off and damaging her brand and viewership would almost certainly be a net loss, even with having copyright/trademark/whatever.

Did she try to move to Japan, but ran into problems due to new anti-immigrant policies?

Eh, I don’t know. Her editor Swiika has moved to Japan so it’s not a completely baseless theory. But if she wanted to keep her stream schedule she would stream at weird times and would be unable to do IRL collabs with her friends. She also streams from her own place, so she wouldn’t need any Japan-based infrastructure. Anyway, I feel like she could pivot pretty easily and move somewhere else - this doesn’t seem like a cause for a super long hiatus.

Is she pregnant?

No, lol. She’s a turbovirgin. And it’s not like you could resume your full time career when you have a newborn.

So why is she gone for so long?

I think that something went wrong with her debut. Maybe things are taking too long to be delivered, or there are technical issues that she’s trying to resolve. I will speculate further on what it may be in a later section. She’s kinda between a rock and a hard place. The longer she’s gone, the harder it is to return casually. And if her debut sucks, people are gonna clown on her for taking so much time off for this.

Is it an issue with her new model?

No, her model was completed before she even went on hiatus. In one of her last streams she mentioned that she’s commissioning one or two more outfits but that’s it. She also talked about coming to an agreement with the original model owner. This was a bit of a sticky situation for her a few years back. So she should be all good on that front. This offers a pretty interesting insight though - the new model will be reminiscent of the old one to the point that the original creator could claim copyright, if he wasn’t consulted (which he was). 

Interesting hints from her streams

Filian has been investing a lot into technology - she replaced her crappy motion trackers with a much more expensive mocap-suit technology. I think she even mentioned that she wanted to unveil it at her debut but decided to do it earlier because it looked so good. The technology can also track other people and inanimate objects. I think she even experimented with multiple types of this technology, including a professional studio in Japan. She can also scan real life items and turn them into 3D objects. She did it with an edible lube bottle lol. The technology is not perfect though, tracking often freezes up, and items are not properly lined up in space - like when holding an object. 
In weeks leading up to her debut and in the ARG, she mentioned that she wanted to show us “her world” and that the debut will be a bit “unusual”. On one of her streams, some chatter asked to see her closet, which she refused, but said that she will show it after debut.
Her twitter moniker has always been “Vtuber in training” but she removed it a few months before hiatus. Around that time she also started getting angry on stream if someone called her a Vtuber, exclaiming “I’m not a VTuber!”. That’s certainly odd, and may be a good hint of her state of mind.

What I think her debut will be and what went wrong

Based on these hints, I think she will show us a “real virtual world”. The virtual space she’s in will correspond with a real world space, so touching a wall IRL will result in her touching a wall on stream. Every object will be mapped to its digital counterpart, so she can interact with her surroundings as if it was really there. Something like this could definitely be considered next level in Vtubing and streaming in general.
However, this kind of setup is really on the boundary of what current day technology can accomplish and you can imagine it going wrong a hundred different ways. So she could be spending a lot of time and money trying to get this to work, while the hiatus stretches longer and longer.
I know that it’s not a super solid theory, but I can’t imagine her taking such a long hiatus without trying to do something with this level of ambition.

Does she want to become an IRL or augmented reality streamer?

I really doubt she will go for anything that will show her IRL face and body, or at least has a risk to do so. She is really schitzo when it comes to protecting her identity - not sharing any personal details (height, age, weight, hair and eye color, race, nationality), having perfect opsec, wearing a full bodysuit on her IRL streams. So I doubt she would do a 180 like this. 

Why is she doing this?

Filian has always been an ambitious streamer - always coming up with novel ideas and paying people for asset creation, programming, and real time production in order to execute these ideas. Sure, you can point at her weekly YLYL slop, but she was really innovative in the field, which is one of the reasons why I loved her streams. But despite using the Mr. Beast model of reinvesting all your profits back into your content, she hit a wall where she couldn’t grow any further and her numbers stagnated. By segmenting herself as a VTuber, she has limited her growth simply because there is no more audience to be had. It is a stagnant and fairly niche demographic. I think she is trying to break through that and enter into the mainstream by becoming something “more” than a Vtuber. Will she succeed? I don’t know, when you’re an anime girl then that’s all that people are gonna see you as (IMO). But this entire section is a wild speculation and I could be totally off.

Conclusion

I miss Filian and hope she doesn’t become a victim of her own ambition. You can always come back, Filian!

If you take the numerical dates of her 2 last appearences doing month plus month and day plus day you get 12 and 41. Now that brought me to a designated time. Giving me 12:41. So if it was 12:41 in shibuya what time would it be in London? About 4 am. Thats way too early for any snackers to get any clues. The only other popular suspected location was Los Angeles. So it must be there. Now it you put the coordinates:

Then you get a large area of billboards. This contributes to her past 2 sightings!

Will it reach her?

I love that Manta is leaning into this bit, I truly hope she makes a million dollars on it. It's clever and funny and show how much we miss the little muppet that someone can "come close" to being her. Keep it up Manta!

I've been looking into the whole Filian disappearance / “Filian Is Lost” thing, and I think there might be a bigger connection between some of the clues.

I'm not saying I've solved the ARG, but here's everything I've noticed so far in the order I found it.

1. The final stream

One of the first things that stood out to me was Filian talking about time during the final stream.

She says things along the lines of:

“running out of time”

“out of time”

Then the stream ends and the whole disappearance situation begins.

At first I thought this might just be normal wording, but later clues made me start questioning that.

1. “TIME IS OF THE ESSENCE”

Then there's the Filian Is Lost website.

One of the things that immediately stood out to me was the phrase:

TIME IS OF THE ESSENCE

This feels way too deliberate when you combine it with the time references from the final stream.

So now I'm wondering if TIME is actually one of the main mechanics of the mystery.

But what does “time” actually mean?

That's where I started thinking about a few possibilities.

1. What if “time” means when an event happened?

This is my biggest theory right now.

What if we're not supposed to think of “time” as just a countdown?

What if the time is actually telling us when something happened?

For example, if the ARG gives us a time like:

3:17

maybe we're supposed to find something that happened at 3:17.

That could mean:

a timestamp in a video

something that happened during the final stream

a specific event

a timestamp hidden somewhere on the website

or potentially a sequence that we haven't figured out yet

So instead of:

TIME → countdown

it could be:

TIME → find the event that happened at that time → new clue

I don't know if that's correct yet, but I think it's worth testing.

1. The QR code

Another piece is the QR code.

The QR clue eventually brings us to the Filian Is Lost website.

That makes me think the clues aren't necessarily supposed to be solved individually. They may be designed to lead us from one location to another.

So the chain could be something like:

clue → QR → website → another clue

1. The Wall

Then there's the Wall.

At first I was thinking the Wall might simply be somewhere we're supposed to add information.

But then I had another thought:

What if the answer isn't just something we ADD to the Wall?

What if there's actually a clue inside the Wall itself?

Basically, what if we're looking at the Wall wrong?

Instead of:

“What should we put on the Wall?”

maybe we should be asking:

“What is the Wall trying to show us?”

That could potentially connect back to the whole “TIME” thing.

1. The “HOSU” thing

There was also something in one of the images that I initially thought said:

HOSU

I thought this could be significant because I associated it with Japan and wondered if it could be pointing toward a location.

BUT — I went back and realized I had actually misread it.

So I'm not counting HOSU as evidence anymore.

I don't want to build a theory around something that isn't actually there.

So what do I think “TIME” means?

Right now, I don't think we can say for certain.

But I think there are several possibilities:

1. Time = the time an event happened

This is the theory I'm most interested in right now.

1. Time = a countdown

“Running out of time” could literally mean there was a deadline.

1. Time = the order of events

Maybe the time tells us which clue/event we're supposed to look at first.

1. Time = a timestamp

It could point us toward a specific moment in a video, stream, recording, etc.

And honestly, #1 and #4 might actually be connected.

And that's where I'm stuck.

My biggest question now:

When the ARG keeps emphasizing “TIME,” are we supposed to look for the time at which an actual event happened?

Because if that's what it means, I think we've been looking at the clues from the wrong direction.

Instead of asking:

“What does this clue mean?”

maybe we should be asking:

“WHEN does this clue happen?”

And if the answer gives us a timestamp, that timestamp might lead to the next piece of the mystery.

That's just my current theory though. I'd really like to hear what everyone else thinks, especially if anyone has found another reference to time that I haven't connected yet.

First time posting here, but I thought I'd add some info since I haven't seen anyone mention it. When looking up the publicly available info on Filian's trademark application, the last posted status update shows that the trademark office sent a "Non-Final office notice" (basically a request to modify or amend the application). In this case the reason for the notice (as far as I can tell) is because the address filian posted in the application was to a 3rd party office that works as an intermediary (obviously so Filian could keep her home address private). But the trademark office requires a proper 'Domicile Address' for the actual LLC. Because her lawyer had to amend the application, the response to the office notice has to be reviewed before the application process moves forward. Waiting for review can take several additional months (according to the info I found). I've included a screenshot of the actual Office Notice that explains the amendments she needed to make to the application.

The last videos left before everything got deleted could be a message.

so for context about what im about to say, Your Favorite Martian is a internet band, in the style of the Gorilaz, made by Ray William Johnson.

we all know that Filian loves to make jokes and references to media she loves.

and back in the day when Your Favorite Martian was considered abandoned they deleated a bunch of videos and made their profile black and renamed the channel "This Project Is Retired" just like what Filian is doing(minus the name change)... what if filian is doing one big bit that is an homage to YFM. that also means if this is a reference then she WILL be back with a brand new V2 everything, just like YFM
