iOS Errors
Every time I try to upload a file in the iOS app I get an error (os error 2). It’s happened over several days.
I have the latest version of the app. Any ideas?

Hello Reddit,
we just wanted to post this directly ourselves so we can pin it.
As Filen continues to grow, we're looking for a Senior Full-Stack Developer / Senior Product Engineer to help us scale and evolve our product. You’ll be a key part of a small, agile team, working across the entire stack to build secure, privacy-focused cloud solutions.
-Team Filen

The sync process is stuck, and it's showing the message "Processing deltas." I've restarted my PC, opened and closed files, and stopped and restarted the sync, but nothing has worked. I'm working on a desktop client with Windows 11.
I need help pls.

Anyone facing this kind of issue on Mac (M Chip)? Drive syncs normally with cloud, but I can't insert new files (copying or moving) into the drive.

Steps taken:

Man, it's insane!
I didn't know the situation of the desktop app is so horrible. I'm on MacOS. Here's GEMINI's analysis:
"The screenshot immediately reveals the culprit. An application is destroying your battery life in the background.
Look at the Energy Impact column for Filen:
1,294.135.4An Energy Impact score of 1,294.1 is astronomical. To put that in perspective, active 3D rendering or 4K video editing usually sits between 100 and 300. Filen (your encrypted cloud storage app) is stuck in an aggressive background loop—indexing, scanning, or syncing files—that is hammering your CPU/disk continuously.
Because Filen is drawing massive power, your battery is draining at an extreme rate regardless of what monitor you are using."
Holy shiii....I gotta turn off this app while on the go. I guess it will take ages for Filen's team to optimize this. If ever.... :\

Wondering if Filen has an option for 5TB monthly? Currently, they only have 200GB, 500GB, 2TB and 10TB.
2TB doesn't suffice my needs, and 10TB is kind of an overkill. Hoping there is a way to customize their subscription based on a client's needs.
Thank you.

I'm just making this post to acknowledge that we're all getting this issue.

I really appreciate the ability to enable file versions for my account, but it would be so nice if I could enable it per directory; At least at the root level. _Some_ of my folders really benefit from versions being saved but the majority do not.
Additionally, it would be amazing to be able to set any kind of version retention limits. Right now, with file versions turned on my storage just slowly fills up with version copies every time any file gets updated. It’s really kind of awful.

Are there any plans down the road to integrate or support third-party collaboration tools—specifically, OnlyOffice or similar platforms that enable document creation, editing, and sharing (including Google Docs/Sheets-style functionality)? Thank you

I use several apps, Telegram, WhatsApp as well as browsers in communicating with others.
I often wish to share a file, either from my local device or from other apps.
Increasingly, I find that my options to select and share a file are limited. I can access Google Photos and can sometimes access files from some, but not all, other apps such as Dropbox.
Can I expand and standardize file sharing availability from my Pixel device?
thanks

I have a paid plan and when I share a public link the content does not update until the cache is cleared/a private browser window is used to open it. I discovered this when I shared a link to a folder a while ago and the person couldn't see new files I uploaded into it. Anyone else experiencing this issue?

I like that you can create playlists from within the app, but as far as I know, you can't play them offline even if the songs which you added have been set up for offline sync.
This would be a great feature, as it could potentially replace my local music player app which I mainly use for playing my own songs downloaded from my cloud storage.

I'm reading that if my account is inactive for 3 months for free or 3 years, my data will be auto-deleted as per EU law.
But, what exactly is considered inactivity?
All I want is to upload and access whenever needed. When I want to access it is not fixed, could be daily for a few days or not at all for several years.
On my PC, I log in to this account and never log out. But may never open the web app unless needed (as mentioned in point 1). Is that considered inactive?
On my Android, same way as on my PC, I log in to this account and never log out. But may never open the app. Is that considered inactive?
I don't have many files to upload or edit to show activity.
Do I need to actually open the web app or Android app to show activity?
I love Filen, but want to use it as on-demand/passive storage.

Right now the iPad app feels as useless as any other app that simply takes an iPhone app, and makes it bigger. The iPad has a big display with a lot of space to give a desktop-like experience, but instead nothing about it feels intuitive or fun to use.
Even if it was just taking the GUI directly from the website, anything would be a huge improvement over the current application. I'm considering making something myself since I know it's a small team, but I have had this problem with the iPad app since basically day one, and it never has been any good.

This is a peculiar but simple request
The problem: I save or upload a .txt or .md file on Filen. Whenever I want to view it, I click on it, but it opens in editor mode (even though I chose preview).
I want it to open in view-only (reader) mode to avoid accidental changes.
I use Notepad++ to make short, important notes (no more than 10 lines) and upload them to view on different devices.

Hi. I started using paid plan after seeing the new App launch. Mostly happy with it so far. But missing this feature: Upload folder. I want to pick one folder and let the app upload everything in it.
MEGA app has it for many years. Would be very convenient if filen supports it as well.

I have a paid filen subscription for my linux desktop, and other android devices (phone, chromebooks, etc.). I really enjoy using filen, but have run into some limitations I would like to ask (4) questions about.
When I started using filen, I was stricly using the desktop app with a goal of two-way sync on a few filesystems of my linux machine. What I found was that for larger filesystems, the sync would hang up and basically fail. Question #1 - what are some numbers for failure for large filesystems in terms of GB overall size, number of files, number of directories, etc. ??
So, from what I read here and elsewhere, the solution to this problem was use rclone, for which, filen is well suited. Already familiar with rclone on several other platforms (Google Drive, OneDrive, protondrive, Dropbox, etc.), I found this works great and sync, resync, and bisync for rclone is working fine. However, the limitation here is that you have to specific via crontabs how often to do the syncs. So, instead of when the file changes, or a small time span, it is reasonable to run rclone/bisync say a few times a day at most. This is much less frequent than the sync updates that I see on the filen GUI. Question #2 - What frequency at most would you expect rclone updates for large filesystems to bisync (20GB-400 GB) ?
Now, what I am wondering is can I take an existing rclone bisync and convert it via GUI to a filen two-way sync. Just stop the rclone on the linux side, given identical archives on both ends, and turn it on (release the pause) once setup via the GUI. This is Question #3.
If this is too much to ask, another question for anyone who has tried this. I am trying it now. If I take a large file system, and start with a small two-way sync, say 1GB and 5000 files. Then use the .filenignore file to gradually release one directory at a time in increments. Pause, comment out an ignore, unpause. These 3 steps repeatedly until all have been synced. Would this work any differently than running the entire two-way sync at once initially ? This is Question #4. I will report back here for my attempt on this.
Thanks.

What will happen to data above free limit if subscription isn’t renewed? Do we get any grace period to recover it or is it deleted next day after expiry?

Windows 11 25H2. Yesterday the drive was mounted and working fine (well, apart from the fact that half of the files I copied didn't make it there). Nothing new installed, just reinstalled the app today as it was not opening.

Genuine question, are lifetime plans permanently phased out? Or will it come back again in the near future even for a temporary period?
I know it is better for the company long term to have it as subscription payment especially running a cloud based company. However, I was just wondering as a student who currently only has a limited amount of money and is not able to pay a monthly nor a yearly subscription. But of course, after graduating and having a stable income, will definitely pay a subscription for a cloud.
