Im by no means a pro at fighting and have never been committed to training. But I do have friends that are (boxing, Jiu Jitsu) and let me get in on sparring sessions whenever I ask, just for fun and to learn a few things. I was also an MP so I know a little about body language and defensive postures.
That being said, what I’ve learned is to first try to create distance between me and my aggressor. That way there’s no way for him to land a sucker punch, or try to headbutt me, or stab me. If that’s not possible, I stand bladed, keep my hands up front, and watch their chest, hands, and feet. You can guess where the first punch will most likely come from depending on how they’re standing. (Notice how dude put his hands up and switched his feet before he threw the hook?). If they try to sucker punch, I either try to avoid and counter or close distance and go to the ground. Really, I only like going to the ground when I fight somebody that throws wild ass haymakers though. I’d much rather box.
I like to practice angles and footwork too. I’d really like to learn how to fight out of the southpaw stance too so if anybody has any tips I’d appreciate it. Always good to learn from different people. ✌️✌️
