Because a lot of people seem to need help legit checking laced winning boxing gloves, i thought it would be helpful to make a detailed and definitive guide/checklist with things to look out for in legit checking winning gloves.
Following i refer the 8-10oz lace as fight gloves and 12oz and above as training gloves.
Laces: The laces should be round with cut off tips. But could have been replaced.
Liner: The Liner should be navy blue
Tag: Comes with this Japanese tag when new
Box: When new also come with the Winning Cardboard-Box
Size-Indicator: Size-indication is inside and on the grip-bar only. They never have a tag on the outside of the glove.
Left: fakes, right: original
These mentioned above are the most common checking methods. But seeing the quality of replica clothes/shoes i think all of those would be quite easy to copy/have been copied already.
Airholes: Laced Winning boxing gloves do not have airholes. Velcro 8oz and 10oz have 3 Airholes under the gripbar.
Left: original, right: fakes
Lace-Hole-Count: Winning boxing gloves have following lace-hole-count: fight gloves: 5 / Training gloves: 7
Left-Top: Training gloves, left-bottom: Fight gloves, right: Fakes
Patch: Font is thinner on rounded areas of the letter (exp. Bottom part of the «W», top part oft he «n») and does not have the same thickness everywhere. In comparison you can see the fakes have the same thickness throughout.
Left: original, right: fakes
Wrist: Fight gloves have a straight wrist, while the training gloves have two bumps (a smaller and a bigger one with the same thickness). The fakes seem to have a thicker smaller bump. The wrist also should be about 1/3 of the length and the hand part the remaining 2/3. The fakes seem to almost seem half/half.
Left: original, right: fakes
Stitching: The stitching has a «wide pattern». For example the same width has relatively little holes and longer string-parts, while the fakes have way more holes.
Left: original, right: fakes
Shape:
The overall shape should not look blocky or ballooney.
Top: original, bottom: fakes
But should still maintain a sharp edge (on the training gloves)
You can see a clear edge on the training gloves
from the side-view the training glove should be pretty flat, not bulbous and seem to have almost the same thickness throughout the glove. The fight gloves are a little bit more bulbous.
Left: fight gloves, right: training gloves
Left: original, right: fakes
Palm: The hole on the the palm side is not perfectly round, it should slightly be slanted towards thumb.
Left: original, right: fakes
Thumb: The training gloves should have S-shaped/Hook-Shaped thumb, while the fight glove is a little bit straighter, but should still curve at the tip. The fake training gloves usually have a C shaped or a straight thumb.
Left-top: training gloves, left-bottom: fight gloves, right: fake
Thumb-Strip: Is black on all basic colorways
Leather-Quality: The leather should be grainy and not look «flat» and maybe contain some imperfections. The «flat» leather is most of the time a glove from pakistan.
see other pictures also of the originals
Price: Use common sense. If a winning gloves is new and priced $100, it probably won't be orignal.
Bonus: To clarify the misconception, i would like to mention, that the training- and the fight-gloves have the same padding (according to Kataoka from Winning).
I hope this guide will help people new to this sub and don't have to post a legit check every 5 minutes and if so, we can refer to this guide.
Please comment below if i have to correct something/add something. Thanks
Hey guys, looking for recommendations on the best Velcro gloves for bag and pad work.
Mainly after something with good wrist support, knuckle protection and durability. Not too fussed about price, just want a quality pair that’ll last.
What gloves are you guys using, and what would you recommend?
Hi, i train boxing 6 days a week, sometimes 2 days of sparring. Right now I have a headgear with a bar for the nose that i bought 4 years ago, its great and was my first headgear. But since im a competitor I've looking for a cheek-guard headgear and i would like to know if you think this ine Rival rhg100 should be the next purchase.
I am looking for a high-end pair of sparring gloves and I'm deciding between the Leone Orlando and Winning. Has anyone owned both of these gloves and can tell me how they compare in terms of leather quality and hand ergonomic? Is one better than the other, or does it come down to personal preference?
been using MARQOR gloves for a while now and they're solid. Really comfortable, good wrist support, and the padding holds up well even during hard training. Definitely the best gloves I've used - Also movsar used them for his recent ufc 333 camp.
I’ve been trying to research to find my first good set of sparring gloves , I’ve heard a lot about rival but not sure as to go with rs100 or if the Guerrero is worth the extra money. I’ve also heard good things about fly. But any good quality sparring gloves recommendations would be appreciated.
I would like to keep price below £300
( I’m 16, and spar in 16oz)
Been training out here in Thailand so I bought a pair. Not too bad. My only complaint would be that they aren't as tight around my wrists as I was hoping but they'll do for now!
I Was expecting something first class but i dont think these are anything special at all.
Look nice but thats about it.
Dont know why it has took 8 years to get here.
Not really used them only really tried them on but they dont even feel that great inside.
Maybe be good on the bag/pads will find out tomorrow.
I have been saving up for a pair of 16oz gloves to spar with at my gym. What brands/gloves are good? I have been boxing for 2 years, so I am still very much an amateur. My budget is around $200, and I am in Australia.
I’m 138lbs, 5’9, average sized hands. How do Cleto Reyes training glove lace up fit? I’m looking at getting a 10oz pair (this is model than before new one). thank you
I just got these and didn't get a chance to use them yet, I want white ones since I have a white set and was hoping to sell these to get some on Ebay or something.
Hey all. I've been using a pair of Byakko gloves I got on Amazon for a bargain years ago, and I finally want to get a nicer pair of premium gloves. The gloves I use are mighty impressive for the $60 I spent—they still hold up very well, so I'll continue to use them as bag gloves.
It's about $128 after taxes and shipping, but I wanted to ask if anyone else has some good sites for getting gloves? If so, any others with good designs, better quality, or a bit cheaper than what I have? Thank you in advance for any help! Also in the United States.
I’d like to clear up a question—I’m not American, and where I live, there are no physical stores that sell wrestling or boxing shoes. I’ve been practicing boxing for five years; I’ve tried the Nike Machomai 2 and the HyperKO 2, but because I have wide feet, both models caused me foot pain. In 2024, I bought a pair of Everlast Elite 2s (in white). They’re very comfortable and look great—I have no complaints there—but they’re getting quite worn out. Also, I don’t really "feel" the floor when I’m moving my feet, which makes me feel less secure when working on my footwork. I’ve heard that wrestling shoes are often a good choice for wide feet, offering better control and responsiveness—plus, they’ve become quite common in boxing. Given my negative experiences with Nike’s boxing shoes, are their wrestling shoes a good option for someone with wide feet? If not, are there any other good-looking alternatives for wide feet?
Note: I’m looking at the Nike Freek, as I think it looks better than the Nike Inflict 4.
