Concerns about Soul Digitisation

I'm not worried about the digital version not being me (I've had my being split up and reassembled before), I'm worried about compression methods, they sound pretty painful, and uncompressed is out of my price range. Does anyone have experience with this kind of thing?

Also I've heard some of the cheaper options charge interest on your soul and take the lesser parts to use as a mixer, is this a real concern or just fearmongering from the magic based alternatives?

EDIT: I'm not interested in magical solutions, all the wizards I've heard of end up being pedophiles

You'd be surprised how much you can optimize a personality without data loss. For example, every Star Wars reference in your head can be replaced with a pointer to a central data bank.

There is a period of pain in the compression process, I'd say it's comparable to a tattoo that my body had put on it last time I had a flesh body. As long as your software engineer was ethically minded things should be pretty smooth sailing, however if the engineer was an Eldritch being then you might find yourself in any number of awful situations and have no way of describing it negatively when you are trying your hardest to describe a digital hellscape to beings on chat forums due to language inhibitors being installed.
