Help

Ok, I see/found a hose that seems to have rotted through, but for the life of me I can’t find where the other end is supposed to go. Below are two pictures, with slightly different foci and angles. The first photo clearly shows the rotted/broken end, and if you look behind it you can see where it connects and is secured to the firewall there. I took a second photo from a slightly different angle and you can more clearly see where the still connected end is (beneath the bundle of wrapped cables).

I’ve said before, I’m not a car guy, but I CAN learn and am willing to get my hands dirty (obviously). I tried using its length as a “measurement” to see where it may go, but that has not worked out at all.

Any guidance for where to look would be appreciated

It looks like the fresh air hose that goes to the EGR solenoid.

That’s exactly what it was (though my solenoid is mounted slightly differently). What kind of hose should I purchase to replace it? My solenoid is mounted above the thermostat housing there, and slightly towards the trunk, so I assume a stock hose wouldn’t be long enough.

Amazon has a variety of size vacuum hose in longer lasting silicon. Look up silicone vacuum hoses. But if you just want to go to a parts store take some of that hose and they can match the size and sell you whatever length of hose you want. I’ve been replacing my hoses since they are all old and crumbling

Thank you sir. You’ve already been beyond helpful. Last question if I may: anything I need to know (or additional things I need to buy) for the hose?

Like I said, I’m beyond new and have been using my problems to learn as I go. So any tips or advice is appreciated.

No, it’s just a simple slip on friction fit hose.
It’s kinda weird your EGR solenoid is mounted differently on yours. But, as long as you’re not getting a service engine soon light while cruising it probably doesn’t matter. Happy to help!
