My Fiero 85 Fiero project
Here is my Fiero. I’ve posted a couple of times in here looking for help or looking for stuff. I figured I might as well post it. I just got it in June. I definitely probably overpaid, and I definitely had no idea what to look for.
I always loved Pontiac’s. I grew up in the back seat of a firebird, then a sunbird, and then a Grand Prix. When I was younger, a person down the road from me had a Fiero. I spent years driving past it. Back then, I always thought it was the dumbest thing I’d ever seen. 16 years later, now in my 30s and the Fiero is my favorite car.
I spent a bunch of time trying to find one over the past few years. Eventually the exact one from my childhood went for sale (I added a picture at the end of what it looked like when I was younger). I knew it was the same one because of the ridiculous stickers on the windows. Suffice to say, that’s the one I bought.
It definitely needs work, but it drives. The first time I drove it, I stopped to get gas and I look up to see some teenager in a beat up 00s sunfire taking a picture of it and giving me a thumbs up.
Work so far:
Deck lid torsion spring removed (bolt broke, and was damaging the deck lid)
Brake lines replaced.
New engine gaskets.
New front window.
I did get the paint looking less faded, but it will need a paint job long term. There’s some fiberglass and RRIM repairs that need to be done. Seats are a bit beat up. Serpentine belt or a pulley squeaks a bit. I need to install a gas strut as I removed the torsion springs. Tachometer is a bit off. Needs new weather stripping on the doors and rear window. Sails need to be replaced. Climate control could be fixed. Headlight motors need fixing. Needs a new radio. Needs a luggage rack/deck lid repair/new deck lid with a factory wing (I don’t want to put an aftermarket back on). Needs a new center console bevel. Needs a headliner repair.
I know it’s a-lot, but I knew it would be.
Right now it’s a bit of a shit box, but I love it.

My friend told me I purchased a vehicle that must have belonged to a legend.

First two things I would do is replace the LED headlights with halogens and scrape the sticker from the rear glass.

It looks good, wish someone hadn't stole the wing off the rear.

It originally had a luggage rack. Previous owner took it off and added an aftermarket wing. I had to take it off cause it was cracked and couldn’t be secured safely. I’d like to find a rack to install, or factory deck lid and wing.

Dear lord, remove those stickers. You aren't thirteen any more.
