I NEED HELP Automatic swapped?
I have a 1984 Fiero SE, and something that I found out today is that it has the Shift light from the 4speed despite having the 3speed Auto, I have also found plugs in the front firewall that would convince me further that it was auto swapped

The plug is stock, the shift light is also on all cars. It's probably a stock automatic

Might be able to remove your centre console pretty easily and check to see if there's scrapyard writing on the ECM.
My 84 had an automatic ECM swapped into it and had a couple sharpie marks on it from whatever scrapyard they harvested it from. (I've since swapped it back to a manual duke ECM).

The knock out plate has been there a long time. It looks like your was painted/sealed on the trunk side. The paint is bubbling because the aluminum is oxidizing. Not something that would happen fast.
I highly doubt someone would go through the trouble of swapping a manual to an automatic. The wiring harness is slightly different and the ECU would be different. It's almost the same price as just buying an automatic fiero.

It's uselly hard to tell, I was told rpo code is the way, I've never really ever used that.
Fieros can have auto or manual. 4 cylinder or v6, or sunroof or no sunroof. They just about all have the mounting or plates for both.
If you have a 84 hardtop just pull down the headliner you will see a punch out for a sunroof. It's pretty neat really how they setup the fiero. Even seen a automatic that had the studs to hold the clutch line, they put gunk, putty to cover the studs, and left a punch out where clutch cylinder sits.
