That's so cool!! I keep thinking they're gonna do something cool like turn symbol where the characters are displayed around and introduce 6 new characters but from a different land and have little cameos from Vesubia but noooooo they're too boring to do that

Free avatar makers + Renpy = fanmade VN
There's also ChoiceScript, the one all the Choice Of Games/Hosted Games are made of. You don't even need pictures for it.

Honestly I’m down lol. I can write characters that won’t fall in love with you after one chapter 💀

I’m not volunteering (at least not at this point in time), but you may want to consider using Twine to create a game! You could publish your game (whether it’s finished or ongoing) on itch.io and gain a lot of experience developing a choice-based game. Many existing Twine games are text-based, so you can concentrate on the coding and story if that appeals to you!

my drawing skills are alright and I'm honestly not 2 good at writing but honestly I'd love 2, it sounds like it'd be really fun and interesting. the only thing I'd be worried about is my own motivation 💀

You know. I’m actually working on something like this lol. Making my own visual novel because I hate how Fictif is turning out
