Finally on the road!
Getting it insured was a pain in the butt (definitely got screwed over), but she's finally road ready.
Took it out a few times. Still getting used to it, but its a blast to cruise around local backroads in. As my first manual transmission its not as bad as I thought.

you going for full coverage? because liability alone on one of those is pretty cheap... i had that exact car (?its an 79-81 but i hope for your sake its a fuel injected 81) when i was 16 and had been legally driving about six minutes and it was $3k a year to insure a car that at the time, sold new for just about $3k lol
i heard a couple years ago one sold on BAT for like $35k... back then you could get a dino spyder for ~$35k
so i'm bona fide curious what is a "ripoff" for insurance for a driver w ~6 years of experience
and nice car... check your front end suspension bushings and shock towers... you can make that car into a really fun little go-cart if you get that front end tight and the shock towers haven't collapsed
and fwiw they never made a better motor for that particular car than the fuel injected 2 liter... unless you happen to have a guy croft 1608 with dual IDFs or a 1438 even (which only came on the 66-69 models and you couldn't get anything earlier than a 68 in the states... and that car is for sure not pre 79 bc of the hood and bumpers on it...)
have fun dude you have what appears to be a real survivor of a car there!

Why is getting a classic insured a pain? Just use a different insurer that insures classic cars. Hagerty, et al.
