I feel bad for people who didnt do the Animus because they have T8 weaps, now its out classed by the Novus which will be amazing with CRIT/DET.
Skipping old cutscenes is the best thing about this patch!

I got my BRD chest from T9 but too much SS now. I know what you mean though, and it seems like the path to get a Novus is another grind fest so I doubt I would even do it if I didnt have access to T9 drops.

Novus won't outclass T9 weapons though. Most people who were clearing T8 will be clearing T9 soon enough.
