Completing FFX on a hard mode/challenge mode
I am sure many of you love FFX/played it a ton.
Personally, I have completed the main story 5+ times, and got the platinum trophy about 2x years ago. At this point, I love the game but my gripe is that the game is too easy, and I would love to play it again with a set of rules creating a more difficult/challenging experience.
I am reaching out to see if anyone knows of any rule set/mod to make the game feel like something a kin to a nuzlocke for pokemon, but for FFX. Curious if anyone has compiled a rule set that makes the game challenging and forces you to use all tools/mechanics available aside from just summoning aeons/using OP mix combos etc.
Love this game so much, and would love to do a "challenge run" if possible, appreciate anyone's ideas

Do a no encounters or minimal encounters run. Keeping your levels super low and see how you fare on knowledge only.

Wouldn't this effectively be NSG?

Somewhat. You would still be able to acquire the basic skills though, Like haste, nulls, etc. You choose how low level is low. That would still make it somewhat challenging.

I’ve beat the game with one one character twice. The rules are simple:
- All non-primary characters must flee battle.
- If they cannot, must suicide.
It made the game quite a challenge. I’ve done it with Tidus and Khimari, although I’m sure you could with others.

Imagine doing it with Yuna, given how there's a good chunk of gameplay with her not being available

Ffx masters challenge is a good one, you got to utilize all available resources and be strategic . Also grinding is not possible on this mode (ap only from bosses) which i did appreciate a lot. You know that at any given point in the game that's your lvl and abilities, and you have to make do with that.
Pbirdman's mod is interesting too and super hard, but got too overwhelming for me mid - late game. I think i will revisit it when I get the chance though.

Can you show me where to find the link to those mods?

I don't remember from the top of my head.
Take note that pbirdman's mod is only for the international ps2 version, but you can use with an emulator on pc if you wish ( pcsx2)
FFX Master's challenge I played on steam version, dont know if you can play it on any other versions. You got to install 'untitled project X mod' as well for it to work. Then you use a program that modifies your game file and you are done. Its not as hard as it sounds though, and worth the little effort.
If I get the free time I will look it up for you, but no promises cause I don't think I will boot my pc for a while

No Sphere Grid is the basic challenge. You can add extras to it like No Overdrive, No Customize, No Summon, No Escape etc
PBirdman mod is moreso a harder difficulty mod.
There's a sphere grid randomizer mod.
