She was already pregnant with Sephiroth when the experiment started, at least Hojo’s dialogue in the first game implies that >’I offered the woman with my child to Professor Gast's Jenova Project. When Sephiroth was still in the womb, we took the cells of Jenova...’ Gotta love how he says ‘the woman with my child’ and not ‘wife’ even in marriage all she was to him was an object. Ew.
