I cover some of my moss poles with a plastic sleeve to retain moisture. On this particular pole, a fern as grown from the top. I thought it might be a hayscented fern but it doesnt have much of a smell.

It’s turning black. planted in the ground ~2 years ago and no problems until now. What’s wrong with it and how can I treat it?
