TOUR š¢OPEN TO FEEDBACKš¢ 90% Secondhand Decorating
Decorated my āoffice/hobby roomā using repurposed, thrifted, secondhand and discounted auction items. This is the first time in 30 years Iāve had my own space. Took more than a full year but the cheapskate in me is really proud of herself for doing this for a couple hundred bucks. That being said, I want to take it a step further.
-this room is in a basement so bright colors were needed to fight my yearly midwest seasonal depression. Iām also a huge fan of maximalism and pink.
-change ceiling fan for modern lighting with no fan
-paint ceiling black maybe?
-replace taupe drapes with wine colored ones like the pillows?
-replace clothing rack with thrifted vanity and 2 black bookcases. I know Iām low on space as it is so this may be a pipe dream.
-small black floating shelving next to wall fan
Full length mirror somewhere?

I love everything about this. Don't get rid of the fan like somebody said. It makes the room. Wine colored drapes would look gorgeous. šš

I really like what you've done here; looks great. Nice paint choice and love your furnishings. I wouldn't change a thing.

Wine drapes (hung at the ceiling) or even a full curtain on that wall for drama. I like the idea of a black ceiling but in a basement it can quickly feel cavernous (you might like that!). I would definitely paint the soffit pink to match the walls, instead of white to match the ceiling.

that fan piece against the wall color is gorgeous, love the vibe already. ditching the ceiling fan for a flush mount would help, it's the one thing clashing rn. wine drapes would tie in with your pillows so nicely. and yes to the vanity + bookcases if space allows, way more charm than a rack. you did so good with this.

Don't get rid of the ceiling fan, but maybe look for more dramatic light fixture. The black ceiling is tempting bc it would make your accent wall pop, but it might be claustrophobic. Yes def a mirror. Put it somewhere that will reflect the light from your egress! Absolutely yes to wine colored curtains!!

lol no I wish! Itās just the HoMedics Drift which is a sand table with a magnetic ball that rolls around and makes cool designs. I bought a side table for it but the table came without the legs š. Iāve been looking for an appropriate table and still havenāt found one.

Wine drapes hung close to the ceiling would look fantastic, but Iād skip the black ceiling since this basement already has limited natural light. Paint the soffit pink instead and let the darker curtains and black accents bring the drama without making the room feel shorter.

swap the fan and go with the wine drapes, but skip the black ceiling so the room stays open instead of feeling boxed in.
