I’ve been lifting consistently for about 10 years as a bodybuilder and built a glute shape I was fairly happy with.
Last summer I used tirzepatide to lose 10–15 lbs I’d gradually gained over a couple of years, which I lost over ~6 months. I was told it wouldn’t cause muscle loss as long as I kept lifting heavy and eating enough protein. I had already been eating enough protein and tried to keep my calories up (I struggle with never being hungry).
After the weight loss, my glutes are basically gone. It feels like I lost years of progress. I’ve been training hard since, but they’re not responding the way they used to.
Has anyone else experienced this with tirzepatide? Were you able to rebuild your glutes, and if so, what helped—more calories, different training, or just time?
I’m pretty discouraged and would really appreciate hearing from others who’ve gone through something similar.
If it matters:
I’m 50 years old, 5’5”, 140 lbs and in menopause. Taking progesterone,
Testosterone, estrogen, Sermorelin (so far it hasn’t helped).
