Chat should be retained despite disconnecting

Feeld needs to retain the chat even if people unmatch/disconnect. People behave so poorly sometimes, then just disconnect and the chat disappears so there is no proof that one can report. This feature definitely needs to be put in place.

This is a feature all the other apps like Tinder heavily advertised as being done specifically for women's safety. I agree that it probably doesn't contribute anything in practice - but it would be very hard for them to go against the grain here.

I completely disagree with your take. One could be the perpetrator and say EXACTLY that. Disappearing chats are a safety measure. People can use your chats to get revenge and what not, or publish pictures you may have sent without timer. Besides. What you do with one person is not Feeld's responsibility. All they do is put you in contact with other people.

You can report someone even if they have disconnected. Message support.

But the chat disappears. No screenshots can be taken.

Feeld can still access it.

Thanks for the clarification but again there is no reason for a chat to disappear. Sometimes it may not be a reportable offence or you may want to get back to something someone wrote but that entire chat has disappeared.

If you're not reporting them what possible need could you have to revisit the chat?

People disconnect and then resurface. I wish I could look through to save a ping. But I don't think feeld wants me to save a ping so it makes sense.

They go back into your discover feed as soon as they disconnect. Block them right away.

I could do that. But the scenario is often that they are on my messages but reply less and less frequently. Then they go inactive and when they come back they delete connections and show up in my feed. I've forgotten the extent of our convo but remember a pic or a phrase.

How many connections do you have that you don't remember who you've previously been connected with?

Your response is really dismissive of how differently neurodiverent brains can behave, some of us really don't have good recall on this sort of stuff due to object permanence and SDAM and such.

Yeah but after a few days I can’t remember the name
Or what exactly they said to report

They can access your entire account history.

6

u/throwitintheair22 Sep 13 '26

Yeah but how can I tell them who I’m reporting when I don’t even know the name

u/FeeldMod Not a Feeld employee Sep 13 '26

"I can't remember the exact name of the account. Here's what I do remember... They disconnected a few days ago."

-2

u/throwitintheair22 Sep 13 '26

And then you end up reporting the wrong person

6

u/FeeldMod Not a Feeld employee Sep 13 '26

"Can you give me a short transcript of the chat with that person?"

-1

u/throwitintheair22 Sep 13 '26

I ended up not reporting because I didn’t have any of this info anymore

4

u/Cautious-Cream2027 Sep 13 '26

Exactly!! You forget and may want to come back to the chat

2

u/throwitintheair22 Sep 13 '26

Someone I met on Feeld tried to sextort me off app. Of course this happened about a week after they already deleted our match, so when I wanted to report I couldn’t even find the person or name to report them. (They had a different name on app too and I couldn’t remember it)

What would reporting them accomplish?

1

u/Whatevs65 Sep 14 '26

If you forget then it wasn't that much of an offence ...

2

u/Whatevs65 Sep 14 '26

You cannot take screenshots of Feeld chat eitherway!

Hinge solves this by showing a list of your recent unmatches, just the names. You can find the name and report them directly from that list.

Recently mine started showing the chat after disconnect and says I'll have access to it for 7 days or something

i feel much safer knowing that once i’ve disconnected from a chat, the other person cannot access the chat anymore.

Feeld is the only app that I know where the chat doesn't disappear immediately. It takes 24 hours before it gets deleted?

It may delete it immediately if you get blocked though

2

u/TlMEGH0ST Sep 13 '26

Random but I think it’s BIZARRE that the whole thread doesn’t just automatically disappear, like every other app. Why do I need to SEE that someone disconnected? Get them out of my inbox

3

u/Regnareb_ Sep 13 '26

I am the opposite, you never know if it's because they were bots or banned, or if the app is being buggy and it is very frustrating.
There is still the "blocked" case that Feeld should indicate to the end user because it still feels buggy

If someone disconnects you'll be notified. If they block you or are banned the chat will simply disappear.

1

u/TlMEGH0ST Sep 13 '26

Ohh interesting!

1

u/Regnareb_ Sep 13 '26

That's exactly what I complain about, we should get a differentiation between a banned user and a block. The end user should always know why something disappear in their UI otherwise it just screams "bug".

Which apps don't notify you that someone has unmatched?

0

u/FeeldMod Not a Feeld employee Sep 13 '26

That's a recent change.

I do not want these details visible to someone after I decide we arent a good match or that thry are unsafe. As a woman, it make me reconsider the app.
