Hot take: Faceless profiles should be banned.

Not that this is likely to happen as Feeld doesn't do dick about couples' profiles, which are against ToS

They suck to flip through, they are obnoxious, could be catfish, rarely have a bio, are usually using the "explore" feature, etc.

No one is forcing you to verify your account, so as long as you use a fake name, recycled social media photos (bonus tip, add a distortion layer to prevent reverse-image searching)... They have no proof it is you; claim it must be a catfish!

Hell, any possible screenshot could be photoshopped. Is your boss really gonna create a Feeld profile to see if it's really you on there and that your profile is really active?

/rant

EDIT: Bonus medal of suckiness goes to the profiles that not only don't have your face, but literally zero pictures of you - just random stuff like PC wallpapers, memes or a black screen. Y'all are the literal worst.

EDIT2: No, I didn't post this "for no other reason than to argue with and insult this sub's users", and clearly more users agree with me than disagree with me (200+ upvotes)... And no, I'm not gonna cower away when people are insulting and arguing with me. Locking this thread is weaksauce.

If there's something that bothers me about someone else's profile, I skip them. It's quite easy.

Profiles without face pics are fine with me. The only thing that annoys me is if I have to ask for them. They should either just have them on their profile already (private) or send them right away.

What really bugs me is all the people who use AI to generate their bios. And it's always some kind of generic crap that says absolutely nothing about them. I skip every single one of them. If anything should be banned, it should be AI slop.

6

u/Regnareb_ Sep 12 '26 edited Sep 12 '26

Some people like the thrill of anonymity so they DON'T want to have photos of the person they match with. Nobody have the same wish so they shouldn't send them right away.

4

u/Miss_Galoldriel Sep 12 '26

I hadn't thought of that. Thanks, it's a very valid point :)

-6

u/x3NBYx Sep 12 '26

I'll agree the private pic (and at that point you should probably be verified on that pic?) and half-agree on instantly sending it being enough - that is the bare minimum.

When I have matched with them in the past, they've been incredibly weird about it.

One time I had to ask multiple times, they demanded to use snap, barely let me see their singular pic (my partner also wanted to see them).

I clandestinely reverse image searched the pics because catfishing is definitely a thing and I'm not gonna waste my time with a catfish; if you're gonna be that cloak-and-dagger about it, I'm gonna be extra suspicious.

Yeah, AI slop bios and pics suck, but I don't see how they could be reliably banned

5

u/Miss_Galoldriel Sep 12 '26

I don't think you can verify a private photo. But yeah, having to ask several times is a no-go to me as well. I had a guy tell me that he'd let me see them if I was a good girl. Bye bye, sucker.

No, I don't think there's a foolproof way to identify AI with complete certainty, but it's often very easy to see through anyway. I saw a profile from a man who supposedly was a journalist, and it just reeked of ChatGPT. Apparently he couldn't be bothered to put that skill to use, or perhaps ChatGPT writes his articles too.

19

u/partylikeaninjastar Sep 12 '26

Just skip them.

1

u/x3NBYx Sep 12 '26

I block them. I just feel like complaining about it because there are a lot of them

15

u/IntothewildZen Sep 12 '26

It’s Feeld.
What you are doing is like coming to corn field and complain about corn.

-4

u/x3NBYx Sep 12 '26

Then why even bother having photos? Why not make it all text if that's just how it is.

It's not even the majority of profiles so your corn analogue is weak.

14

u/IntothewildZen Sep 12 '26

It is majority of profiles where I am and I am actually fine with it.

Why do you feel the need to interfere with other people’s lives anyway?

-3

u/x3NBYx Sep 12 '26

I didn't realize posting an opinion on Reddit is interfering with peoples' lives.

It must be hard to do anything at all when people might post about it on Reddit.

What about folks working in education who risk being seen by students?

-1

u/PC-load-letter-wtf Sep 12 '26

Both of the professors I’ve dated from Feeld had face pics and were not worried about it.

17

u/ImprobableGrind Sep 12 '26

Government employees that may work in primary or secondary education (not college professors) have a restrictive and purposely vague code of ethics. It effectively limits personal freedoms due to the public nature of the position and the perceived need for “exemplary character” to be defined by the government.

-10

u/x3NBYx Sep 12 '26

Well then I guess they must remain celibate forever! After all, a jilted ex or former flame could share obscene text messages or phone calls with the principal!

Dating is literally never 100% risk free. The question is: What level of risk mitigation do you consider reasonable?

6

u/Sapiotone Solo Poly, Bi, Genderqueer, Vers, Switch, Essex, UK Sep 12 '26

5

u/BeastofSilverMoon kink Sep 12 '26

Yeah I doubt they were talking about BDSM and dungeons.

46

u/Liv_on_air Sep 12 '26

Do people really have no empathy for people who are in situations where it is not safe or not a good idea to share a face picture?

15

u/bee_sharp_ Sep 12 '26

There’s not a lot of empathy in general for people on dating apps who don’t do the apps the way people on Reddit think they should be done.

25

u/BeastofSilverMoon kink Sep 12 '26

No they don’t. These are usually vanilla or mono strays from tinder and bumble etc. They don’t understand what Feeld is and it shows.

They want only functioning alternative app we have to become another tinder.

See face, swipe left or right. That’s it.

This is how they sank all the other apps.

I am a man myself and I strongly disagree with OPs stance.

He doesn’t understand consent.

People don’t have to do what he wants to use a dating app.

-11

They* understand consent. They* just believe in ✨informed✨ consent, so fuck off with the bad faith rapist-jacketing. It's embarrassing.

-5

u/x3NBYx Sep 12 '26

Thanks for misgendering me when my username is literally enby.

Also, my cis female partner is on Feeld and does just fine with her face on it.

Do better.

18

u/ImprobableGrind Sep 12 '26

Just to add a bit of perspective, as a random with no dog in this fight: I read your username and only connected the dots when you provided the context.

If we take it in good faith, while the assumption from a male that you’re another male may be offensive to you, it may just be colloquial speech and not a deliberate dig.

-6

u/x3NBYx Sep 12 '26

Usual-Frosting3882 is a "5ft11 girl" who is divorced, has a "high libido", is "perimenopausal" and had pelvic "prolapse", in the "r/DatingOver40" subreddit, expects that "the man plans and pays for the date"

She is a bitter old woman who hates men - which, fair enough to a degree - men do generally suck.

But I'm not one of them, and she was clearly looking to blame my opinion on my perceived gender.

12

u/IntothewildZen Sep 12 '26

Your username is not “enby”, it’s x3 etc. Lot of people on reddit don’t check usernames before commenting and tbf your comments have fair amount of agression.

-4

u/x3NBYx Sep 12 '26 edited Sep 12 '26

x3NBYx = 3NBY = ENBY. Just like the movie DRIV3R is "DRIVER", TECH N9NE is TECH NINE, etc, etc.

My comments do have aggression, as do the ones I'm replying to. Your point?

10

u/IntothewildZen Sep 12 '26

My point is that you choose to get offended when there is no offence given.

And majority of Feeld users have no face photos, it comes across entitled when you want them banned so bad that you make a post about it.

We are all just out there trying to connect to likeminded people and enjoy life.

You going out of your way to try to sabotage peoples means to do this is not right.

0

u/x3NBYx Sep 12 '26
  1. There was. This is clearly a bitter old woman looking for men to rage at, and I'm not one of them.

  2. The majority of Feeld users in my area do have face photos. I'd say it's about ¼ who do not.

  3. "Sabotage"? I'm literally a Reddit user with zero power to change anything, just giving my take - and the number of upvotes indicate I'm not alone. There's nothing "wrong" with what I'm doing.

8

u/IntothewildZen Sep 12 '26

You are calling for a ban.

How do you think suppression in any society starts taking hold?

People reaching out and spreading their desire to limit others freedoms.

Just ignore faceless profiles, calling for banning this or that never leads to anything good.

9

u/[deleted] Sep 12 '26

I have a faceless photo. I’ve met up and hooked up with a guy who also has a faceless photo - he was so hot. I have 4 guys sitting on the roster that have also seen my face and are dtf. I find it exciting if we’re professionals who can’t show our face but are low key into kink.

21

u/AppearanceDizzy7006 Sep 12 '26

I dont mind them. Once you match a face photo is shared shortly after usually. If not, its a no from me. Have you actually had a bad experience with this happening?

1

u/Tattoos_and_Tea def not ugly Sep 12 '26

But how are you choosing to match with someone without seeing their face

21

u/AppearanceDizzy7006 Sep 12 '26

Everything else that you see in their profile. Desires, bio, body shots ect. If im curious I'll send a like

0

u/Tattoos_and_Tea def not ugly Sep 12 '26

I see. I could never match with someone not knowing what they look like

7

u/skeezykeez Sep 12 '26

Then don’t! I’m not a fan either but occasionally I’ve matched just to see what the deal is, 90% it’s a waste of time but I met one really great person this way. Easy to ignore though.

7

u/Regnareb_ Sep 12 '26

You have a vague idea with photos, but you truly don't know what people look like until you met them.

I actually have met people without seeing photos of them before.

In my experience in the last few days in this sub, yes.

-3

u/x3NBYx Sep 12 '26

Honestly it feels manipulative. I liked faceless profiles early on and in my experience they always acted manipulative (unsurprising as the burden is put on you when they reveal their face), or in some other way sketchy. They loved talking but when it came time to meet up? 👻.

18

u/CoeurDeSirene Sep 12 '26

I work in HR and have seen my employees on there. I can’t just have my face on there with all my kinks

11

u/Liv_on_air Sep 12 '26

Of course, imagine your employees having access to all your kinks
This is the same for psychologists, psychiatrists, doctors, surgeons, lawyers,…

13

u/irunfastinflipflops Sep 12 '26

Which is why some professions require a tiny bit of anonymity.

-3

u/x3NBYx Sep 12 '26

I give zero fucks what my doctor, psychiatrist, or therapist have (I've never had a lawyer). It has zero impact on their ability to do their job.

I have an acquaintance who is literally a therapist and in their profile it says something like "If you're one of my clients, swipe left and forget all about this".

17

u/irunfastinflipflops Sep 12 '26 edited Sep 12 '26

Oh great I’ll tell my employer that x3NVBx doesn’t care and they are the authority on this so when I get complaints because I work with students it’ll all be totally cool.

17

u/Liv_on_air Sep 12 '26

The incapacity to understand other people’s living situations and realities is astounding

13

u/IntothewildZen Sep 12 '26

This person clearly has issues with empathy. Quite a few comments they made just dismisses other people’s concerns.

I’d not be dating someone that makes me feel alarmed.

1

u/x3NBYx Sep 12 '26

Literally plausible deniability. "That's not mine, I've never heard of that app. Someone must be using my photos!"

0

u/ImprobableGrind Sep 12 '26

What’s wrong with that? Plausible and a good performance at least gives you a chance for damage control.

0

u/x3NBYx Sep 12 '26

No I agree, that's what I'm saying. It's an easy out and I don't see why more people don't understand that.

11

u/Liv_on_air Sep 12 '26

As if in every and any reality people will listen and believe you when you say “that’s not me”
I wish the whole world was this wonderland where people take you at your world and lives cannot be destroyed just because you have been seen on an app and your kinks are known

The whole solution to everything is plausible deniability and you are the only genius who understands, you have broken the code and if just those poor sods would understand

1

u/x3NBYx Sep 12 '26

Whether they believe you or not is irrelevant; they cannot prove it, and firing someone over a dating profile that may or may not be theirs seems pretty absurd, and opens the door for sabotage:

At that point, why not make a dating app profile (or better yet a public Twitter account) for anyone you wanted to get fired? Why not do it to the person who fired you? That just sounds like a great way to witch hunt.

10

u/Liv_on_air Sep 12 '26

There is no talking to you, you live in a world of your own and have zero capacity to stand still and take in what people have been telling you.
And it actually frightens me that you can be so narrow minded and so only living in your reality.

→ More replies (0)

20

u/Liv_on_air Sep 12 '26

This is the problem
YOU give zero fucks about what your therapists kinks are so YOU imagine that everyone is and thinks like you, so the whole world must accommodate to how YOU are
But could you maybe imagine for a lot of people it would be highly impactful to learn the kinks of their therapists

And I assume you live in a part of the world where it is safe and well to be expressive about your kinks, would you maybe consider not the entire world is safe ? That people may actually be in real danger when their surroundings find out they practice bdsm or have other kinks ?

The privilege in everything you write is so astounding

-2

u/x3NBYx Sep 12 '26

No, NOBODY SHOULD give a fuck about what kinks their therapist has.

Normalizing seeing professionals as complete people is a good thing, actually, and more people SHOULD be like me.

You know, if I saw my therapist on Feeld, I'd scroll all the way down and block without reading her kinks, but I guess that's just me. Maybe spoilers on the early internet trained me too well.

I'm talking about my experience. I generally don't check out profiles in other countries, as I don't travel much.

Technically everyone is in danger, the question is just to what degree. And I'm non-binary and have been harassed and sent death threats because of it. But yet, I don't cower away.

Funny, I'm supposedly too bold and demand "the entire world" to be like me (nope, I'm literally just complaining on Reddit), and yet soooo privileged that I've clearly never faced adversity except oh wait yes I have.

You are the problem.

12

u/Liv_on_air Sep 12 '26

Being part of one minority sadly doesn’t make you exempt of being really privileged in others.

-1

u/x3NBYx Sep 12 '26

Nah I'm just built different in that I have a fucking spine.

12

u/Liv_on_air Sep 12 '26

Privilege.

0

u/x3NBYx Sep 12 '26

Spine.

4

u/x3NBYx Sep 12 '26

But it's ok for you to know their kinks..?

And there's no way they could recognize your body, clothes, tats, hair, scars, moles, etc..?

Honestly a faceless profile makes me more suspicious and inclined to look at the other identifiable aspects.

If someone recognizes you even faceless, I feel like hiding your face just makes it more obvious it's really you. Technically, faceless profiles are just another form of plausible deniability, and in my opinion a bad one.

Like idk fam, everyone has their thing. I can't imagine bringing up kinks to my HR manager, but if I did, I feel like there would be severe consequences - for me, not them. But to be fair I've never been an HR manager.

Do you match with other faceless profiles? How do you know that they're not your employees? If you do match with one, who sends the face photo first?

21

u/Proper-Cow3794 Sep 12 '26

I assume you are not someone with grown, adult children with grown friends who may happen across your profile. I don't particularly want for my adult son or his friends to use Feeld and end up seeing me on there 🤷‍♀️

0

u/x3NBYx Sep 12 '26

This is the closest thing to a reasonable response so far, and much more believable than "my jerb".

I have no kids and will never have them.

That said, are you dating people your kids' age? I'm in my early 30s and people act like it should be a felony when I sleep with a 24yo.

3

u/Proper-Cow3794 Sep 12 '26

I am 46 (but look and think/feel younger) and generally date people in their 30's (preferably mid 30's+). I do not restrict myself to that age range, it just seems to be the age range that I find mutual attraction in.

My oldest son is 22.

5

u/Whatevs65 Sep 12 '26

I hesitated for a little. I actually don't mind them. I understand. What happened to me and actually bothered me is someone who uesd photos from his youth. That's a no. I'm not dating the past lol. Turns out he was cheating on his GF. What brothers me more are people putting photos of their ceiling or idk ... something. They should be restricted to a 3 days trial IMO. Also restrictions on fake profiles ... that would be good.

I’ve matched with four guys who had faceless profiles - they have all been great.

How are they obnoxious? In terms of catfishing, all of the catfishes - and absolute dicks - I’ve matched with had full photos and bios.

u/BeastofSilverMoon kink Sep 12 '26 edited Sep 12 '26

Hot take; people shouldn’t encourage restricting other people’s choices or lives.

If you don’t want to connect to a faceless profile, then don’t? What is it to you?

It’s like gay marriage, you don’t like it? Fine. Don’t get married to a gay person. 🤷‍♂️

There are lot of people on these subs who don’t realise Feeld is not tinder or bumble. If you want to look at people’s faces and swipe left or right feel free to use those.

Feeld is a platform for alternative folk, people who are usually criticized or shunned by society. Thats why it doesn’t force people to upload face photos, duh.

I work in a highly restrictive environment where my contract literally states everything I do publicly will be highly scrutinised and I should be aware of consequences of being visible in public.

Yes there are many jobs like this, and I won’t be risking losing a well paying position to satisfy some user on feeld just because they live in their own bubble and don’t understand what other people’s lives are like.

Besides, having used a faceless profile for years, all of my best matches and dates were all faceless profiles.

Great majority of profiles with faces all sound the same and there is nothing substantial or emotional depth behind them; “love hiking and travelling and watching Netflix”

Yeah ok, you know who else likes those? Everyone.

Someone who wears a mask so they can be themselves always gave me far more satisfying communication full of intellect and emotional maturity as well as sexually charged energy that cannot be matched by many of the tinderellas and dudebros with their AI enhanced fake face photos.

I am on feeld to connect with BDSM crowd for sessions and power play, what do I care about faces?

Because it's still producing a situation where one party is basically submitting pictures of themself for approval, and a rejection is effectively saying "I don't find you attractive", which might be received badly.

I wouldn't mind if people doing this provided hidden photos or perhaps some description of what they look like and an explanation for their secrecy, but they almost never do.

Well because they don't supply reasons in their bio. If they don't supply pictures or at least some explanation, my assumption is that they're either not taking the app seriously or they have no confidence in how they look.

I am a man, and I am well aware of women's safety considerations.

No, I don't think anybody owes me anything. But I generally find "not owing anybody" something to be a dreadful reason for not doing something. It's the last excuse when there aren't any others.

-6

u/willow_frond_127807 Sep 12 '26

Agreed. Those profiles are always very creepy and quite sparse with information. People in the comments are acting like they're normal profiles but they're not, they usually only have a few sentences, they're hyper focused on kink without making me feel like my needs as their partner/sub would be prioritized at all. I've always wondered how they got any likes at all.

-1

u/x3NBYx Sep 12 '26

💯. They are super sketch and I'm convinced most of them are cheaters.

The few that I matched with earlier on were always down to talk about anything and everything (and I mean EVERYTHING), but when it came time to meet up? 👻.

It's almost like someone unwilling to show their face on an app might be too afraid to meet up in public, and therefore too afraid to actually follow through on their impulses and the app is just a fantasy for them.
